West, Route 4, Dunn, participated in Exercise THUNDER at Fort Hood, Tex., with other members of the 1st Armored Division. The four - day exercise ended in early October. The 25 - year - old soldier, a truck driver in Headquarters Com pany, 1st Battalion of the division’s 46th Infancy, entered the Army in December 196i and completed basic combat training at Fort Gordon, Ga. lie attended Dunn High School.
