Mrs. Bill Lilly Reviews Book At Circle Meeting The Eunice Smith Circle of the First Baptist Church met Mon day at 10:30 at the home of Miss Jane Williams on W. Divine Street. Upon arrival Miss Williams served hot cinnamon buns and coffee. The meeting was called to or der by the leader, Mrs. J. S. Farthing Sr. Scripture was read from Luke followed with prayer. During the business session committee reports were given. After an extended discussion of important matters and local leads, a committee was appointed to make further plans for a worthy Christmas project. An nouncements were made pertain ing to the revival on November 24-30 and the foreign mission study class to be taught by the Rev. Tom Freeman at 7:00 Wed nesday night at the church. For the program, Mrs. Bill Lilly gave a review of the book on the life of William Wallace, a medical missionary in China. The pro gram chairman is Mrs. Marvin Ravnor. The meeting was closed with prayer for the revival by Mrs. E. D. Catterton. Attending were Mrs. John Mc Call, Mrs. Lill^, Mrs. Alfred Bla lock, Mrs. J. R. Upon arrival the members were served pecan buns and coffee. Mrs. Margaret Terrell center ed her program around the “W. S.C.S. in Southern Asia” and was assisted by Misses Jean Cromartie and Donna James. Mrs. Carl Walker, Jr. presid ed. Attending were Mrs. Terrell, Mrs. John Snipes, Mrs. Charles Highsmith, Mrs. Coy Kelly, Mrs. Jesse Taylor, Mrs. Cora Par ker, Mrs. J. P. Grumpier, Mrs. Fred Baggett, Mrs. Walker, and two guests, Miss Cromartie and Miss James. The January meeting will be with Mrs. John Snipes. Comedy Program Planned For BPW Meeting The program for the meeting cf the Dunn Business * Profes sional Women’s Club Thursday night will be in the form of “a television-radio^ program with John G. Thomas, news director of the local radio station, ser ving as the announcer. The Civic Participation Com mittee headed by Reva Butler has charge of the presentation. On the committee are Sallye Jernigan and Agnes Cannady. The program will be in the form of a newscast on attain - ments of BPW members through civic participation in 1970 inter spersed with several entertain ing numbers via TV. Featured will be a comedy number by Lina Ennis and her daughter Donna Ruth surpas sing the Beverly Hillbillies as the Dunn Hillbillies; a humo rous speech to Congress by Mal lie Jackson; and a dance rou tine by Dominie Hartsfield. Each member has been invit ed to take their husband or a friend. A group of Raleigh guests is planning to attend the meet ing at 7:00 at Porter’s Restau rant. Book Review Given On Life Of Francis Assisi The life of Francis Assisi, the Saint of Proverty, was reviewed by Mrs. Jim Farthing, Jr., at a meeting of the Thursday After noon Book Club. The book, “My God and My All’’, by Elizabeth Goudge, deals with a young man who would own absolutely nothing and who is said to have walked as close ly in the footsteps of Christ as any man who has ever lived. Mrs. Everette Doffermyre, the program chairman, intro duced the speaker. Mrs. Nathan M. Johnson, Sr., was hostess to the group at her home on West Broad Street last Thursday afternoon. After as sembling, the women were in vited into the dining room where Mrs. Blanche Barefoot, presi dent, served egg nog while Mrs. Lloyd Wade poured Russia tea. Elaborate tea time delicacies were served buffet Arrangements of fall flowers decorated the Johnson home. Prior to the program, the club voted to send a gift to the Ve terans Hospital in Fayetteville and to help a needy family at Christmas. Dental Assistants Plan Yule Party A meeting of the Johnston - Harnett Dental Assistants Society was held last Thursday night at the office of Dr. C. W. Sanders in Benson. With the president, Mrs. Gold ie Wood presiding, the group made plans for the Christmas party to be held at Chicora Countrv Club here December 6, at 8 p. m. Dr. R. M.
