A major local and national aim of this year’s 4-H Week observance will be to recognize the 50th an niversary of the Cooperative Ex tension Service, of which the 4-H vouth program is a sinificant part. In 1914, when the Smith-Lever Act authorized the Extension Service, the same federal legislation provid. ed funds for 4-H Club work. For this reason, 4-H also celebrates a Golden Anniversary. Other local and national aims of this year’s 4-H Week observance are to: Stress career exploration ! and the importance of w:se vo^a- j tional choice: encpurage capable i yppth-minded men and women to become volunteer 4-H leaders: and provide opportunity for clubs to honor their local 4-H friends and express appreciation for their va j iped assistance.
