Dunn Woman Is Reelectd To State UDC Position Rachel Lee Paul has return ed to Dunn following ,tjie 68th Con vention of the N C Division of the United Daughters of the Confeder acy ^which was held in the Blockade Runner Motel - Hotel. Wrightsville BeaCh, Oct 12-15. Mrs Paul was re elected the treasurer of the N C Div UDC at the convention In Oct 1961» under the Division presidency of Mrs. H Grady Johnson, Bur gaw, she was elected to serve the I'neXpi red term of Mrs Martha Love of Durham In Oct 1962. Mrs Paul was re - elected as Division Treasurer and has served on the Executive Board of the N C Divi s orf UDC through the tenure of .Mrs Pansey B. Fetzer, Shelby She hes been reelected to serve as a member of the Executive Board as Treasurer under the ten ure of office of Mrs Ernest J. Mei ere. Jr of Lexington, which ends Oct,-1966 Other Board officers include the following: Mrs. John Beatty, Eliza Dcihtown, 1st Vice President; Mrs. <3 A Anderson, High Point, 2nd Vice President; Mrs G Allie Moore, Jr., Wilmington, 3rd Vice Fresident; Mrs. Margaret Collingsworth, Sta tesville, Secretary; Mrs George Worley, Clinton, Registrar, Mrs F C Michael, Gastonia, Historian: Mrs. W O Crotts, Charlotte, Rec order of Crosses The North Carolina Division has 12 districts which are comprised of : 91 chapters The Division is most proud Of its Educational Program, j Its members believe that aiding a I student receive an education is a J very sound investment in the pre rent and in the future. UDC, Dunn; where she has held the offices of Recorder of Crosses and Parlia mentarian She holds the two most treasured awards of the UDC or ganisation. In 1960 the Chicora Chapter bestowed Upon her and her three brothers, Luther Davis Lee, Thoma* Martin Lee III, and James Nelson Lee the Southern Cross of Military Service, which may be awarded only to lineal des cendants of Confederate Warriors These four children of Mr. and Mrs Julius M Lee were recipients of the World War II medal on the serv'ces of their maternal grand father; Thomas Corbett Lloyd, Sgt Co’s A & A - 1st Florida Infantry Regiment. Their paternal grandfather, David Airian Lee also served in the Battle of the Crater Mrs. Paul is also the recipient of the Jefferson Davi? Medal a warded her bv the Bat'e of Aver asboro Chapter 2320. UDC. chapter she organized as well as co-organ izing its Children of the Confed eracy Chapter: the Lt-Col Robert de Treville 630. RACHEL LEE PAUL Battle cf Averasuoro chapter During 1964, Mrs. Paul attended il of the 12 N C Div District meet ings where she secured donations for the Pansey B Fetzer Bridge, a part of the Fort Anderson Bridge Project, adjacent to Old Brunswick Town Project, near South Port. Under her supervision, tne Divi sion donated enough to complete the bridges in time for their dedi cation at the convention and to be presented to the State of North Carolina and accepted by Dr Crit. tcriden, State Archivist.
