Byrd - Barfoot Vows Spoken In Benson The wedding of Miss Billie Joyce Byrd and David Marshall Barefoot Jr took place Sunday, November 15, at 3 o’clock in Johnson Memo rial Church near Benson. Dr. Harvey W. English, pastor of the bride, heard the vows for the double-ring ceremony, which were spoken in a setting of palms, cathe dral candelabra, and baskets of white chrysanthemums. Mrs. James Floyd Langley, cou sin of the bride, presented the tra ditional wedding music. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Willie Byrd of Route 1, Angier. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. David Marshall Barefoot of Route 3, Four Oaks. The couple entered the church together. The bride wore a em bossed sheath dress of white satin with matching jacket. Her head piece was of white fur with a-cir cular veil. She carried a white Bible, given to her by her mater nal grandmother, Mrs. Sally Lang don, on her twelfth birthday, cen tered with a white orchid. Mrs. Gradford Barbour of Route 1, Angier, was the bride’s only at tendant. She was attired in a pink wool suit with headpiece of match ing net and bows. She carried a white and pink nosegay of carna tions with ivy streamers. The bridegroom’s cousin, Tommy Barefoot of Route 1, Clayton, and Gradford Barbour of Route 1,An gier , were the ushers. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Byrd chose a three-piece knit suit of spruce green with which she wore matching accessories and a white chrysanthemum corsage. Mrs. Barefoot, mother of the bridegroom, was attired in a three piece wool suit of traditional blue with which she wore matching ac cessories and a white chrysanthe mum corsage. Mrs. B. R. Wise, maternal grand mother of the bridegroom, was at tired in a blue dress with which she wore matching accessories and a corsage of white chrysanthe mums. The bride was graduated from Cleveland High School in 1961 and is emnloyed in a secretarial posi tion with Brittain’s of Raleigh. The bridegroom was graduated from. Four Oaks High School in 1960 and is emnloyed with the Ad vance Stores of Raleigh. For travel the bride changed into a two-piece emerald green suit. She used matching accessories and t he orchid lifted from her Bible. Following a wedding trip to Eastern North Carolina the couple planned to reside on Route 1, An gier. Linda Kelley Plans Dec. Wedding Miss Linda Carol Kelley,, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Kel ly of Walhalla, 8. C., and grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Godwin of Dunn, is engaged to marry Kenneth William Smith to senior at the Medical College of South Carolina, on December 26. A graduate of Walhalla High School and Clemson University, the prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Paul Smith, also of Walhalla. At Medical College, he is a mem ber of the Student American Med ical Association and Phi Rho Sigma Medical Fraternity. Miss Kelly was graduated from Walhalla High School and For rest College and is employed by J. P. Stevens Co. in Clemson, S. C. The wedding will take place in the First Baptist Church. p Pamela Hawley Is BrideOf Larry Naylor Miss Pamela Jean Hawley, daugh ter of Mr and Mrs. Roland Hawley of Route 1, Godwin, and Larry Felton Naylor, son of Mr. and Mrs Felton Naylor of Route 2, Newton Grove, exchanged vows in a Thanks giving Day ceremony at the Bap tist Chapel Church. Officiating at the five o’clock rites were Rev. O. W. Pulley, a former pastor. The vows were pledged at the al tar which was flanked by arrange ments of chrysanthemums and em erald palms alternated with seven branched candelabrum holding burning yellow tapers Musicians for the wedding were Tommy Hawley of Dunn, cousin of the bride, organist, and Miss Jeanette Aman, also of Dunn and a cousin of the bride, soloist Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white bridal satin with scooped neckline and full pleated skirt with sweep train. It was designed with a low ered, pointed back waistline and long sleeves which terminated In points over the hands Her head piece was a crown of embroidered iridescent sequins and seed pearls to which a tiered fingertip veil of i imported silk illusion was attached. A lace covered Bible was top ped with a white orchid and showered with tuberoses, stephano tis and white satin streamers. Attendants The matron of honor, Mrs. Col on Hall. Route 1. Godwin, cousin of the bride, wore a green satin dress with full skirt, scoop neck line and short sleeves. Her head dress was circular net adorned with a cabbage rose. She carried an arm bouquet of yellow and bronze chrysanthemums and leather leaf tied with matching streamers The bridesmaids were Miss Deb bie Hawley of Dunn, cousin of the bride; Miss Loretta Naylor, the bridegroom’s sister; Miss Jean Tew of Dunn, cousin of the groom; and Miss Phyllis Hall of Salemburg, a cousin of the bride. The attendants wore matching circular net hats adorned with a cabbage rose. The bridesmaids car ried colonial bouquets of bronze pom poms with talisman roses and brown streamers while the honor ary attendants carried bronze and yellow pom poms made into colon ial bouquets. A niece of the groom, Miss Joni Croom of Route 2, Newton Grove, was the flower girl and Master Ricky Jackson of Dunn was the ringbearer. Mr Naylor was best man for his son and ushering were Kvle Hall of Salemburg and Jimmy Hawley of Dunn, cousins of the bride: Willi am Perry of Route 2. Newton Grove and Luther Wilson of Newton Grove. For the wedding Mrs Hawley wore a logan green imported lace sheath with rounded neckline en hanced with iridescent sequins, matching shoes and hat of velvet leaves. The groom’s mother chose a dress of gold brocade on grey with matching accessories. Corsages of white orchids complimented their attire The going awav costume of the bride was a black mohair suit with mink collar. She wore black skin accessories and the orchid lifted from her bouquet. The coimle are honeymooning at the const. They will reside in Greenville where the groom is a junior at Fast Carolina College. He is a Midway High School graduate. H's wife, a graduate of Clement. High School, attended King’s Business College in Raleigh. •-* Cake Catting Following the wedding rehearsal at Baptist Chapel Church Wed nesday evening, a cake cutting was held in fellowship hall. Upon arrival, ’the honoree was presented with a corsage of yel low chrysanthemums. The table was covered with white over yellow, centered with an ar rangement of yellow chrysanthe mums bonked by yellow tapers in crystal candelabra. Mrs. Roland Hawley, mother ol the honoree, served punch and Mrs. Felton Naylor assisted guests in getting plates. Mints, nuts, wedding cookies, and chicken sal ad in canape shells were also serv. ed. ^ The honoree received many beautiful and useful gifts.
