Malinda McGee Is Bride Miss Malinda McGee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson McGee of Benson, and Charles Edward Pope, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Pope of Smithfleld were married Dec. 6 in the Johnson Memorial Church. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Harvey English. Mr. McGee gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a gown of peau de soie with a train lined with lace attached at the waist by three rosettes. She carried a Bible with an orchid bouquet. Mrs. Ronald Johnson of Ra leigh was her sister’s matron pf honor. The other attendants were Mrs. Paul Collier of Angler, Miss Betty Jean Coats, Miss Judy Matthews of Clayton and Miss Kay McGee of Angier, sister of the bride. The bridegroom had his broth er, Jack Pope of Smithfleld, as best man. Ushers were Jerry Pope and Pete Pope of Smithfleld, brothers tjt the bridegroom, Tommy Pope »f Smlthfield and Ronald Johnson of Raleigh. Mark Allen of Gamer, nephew of tie bridegroom, was the ring bear er and Andy Baker of Smlthfield, niece of the bride, was flower girl. The bride and her husband are both graduates' of Cleveland School In Clayton. She is employed by the Durham Life Insurance Com pany of Raleigh. Her husband is employed by Advance Stores of Ra leigh. The gay holiday motif of red, green and white prevailed. Poliowing a turkey dinner, “The Christmas Story” was pre sented by the pastor, Rev. J. Don or Lee and prayer was by Rev. , Sammy Williams. The group sang several Christ mas carols and exchanged gifts. Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Wellona of Fayetteville were guests. Mr. Wel lons gave a talk on the work of thethe new church in Fayetteville which is to open its doors around the first of the year. December Bride Paid Honor December 19 bride-elect, Miss Judy Barefoot of Benson, was en tertained recently at a shower in the fellowship hall of Unity Church. Hostesses were Mrs. J. L. Hudson, Jr., Mrs. Ioda Barefoot, Mrs. Lee Barefoot and Mrs. Jerry Medlin. Miss Barefoot will marry Len nis Ray Lee. ; The honor guest was presented a corsage of white mums. Quests were greeted by Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Lee Barefoot presided at the registration table. Mrs. Talmadge Barefoot directed a series of gam-: es. A color scheme of green and white was used. The guests were served from a table covered with a linen cutwork cloth. The center piece was an arrangement of white mums flanked by silver candelabra. The hostesses served lime punch, decorated cake squares, and mixed nuts to 50 guests attending. Julia Miley Elected To May Court Julia Miley of .Benson, daughter of the late Mr. "itfifl Mrs. W. H. Miley and the granddaughter of Mrs. W. H. Denning of Benson, has been chosen maid of honor to the May Queen, Sally Day. at Salem College. The traditional celebration and pageant for the public will be Staged in May Dell on the college campus on May Day. Miss Miley, a senior at the Win ston-Salem school, is a graduate of Salem Academy where she received the Faculty Award for scholarship and citizenship. She is majoring in sociology-economics and has served as marshal on the may court.
