Dr. Alexander Opens Practice Independence Medical Associates is pleased to an nounce the association of Dr John Alexander, Or thopedic Surgeon. Dr. Alexander, a native Charlottean, is the son of the ~late Dr. John Kugenfe and Mrs Bobbie Alexander. Dr. Alexander's early education was in the public schools of Charlotte; he attended Bates College, Lewiston, Maine; Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. -Ip 1965.—Dl_Alexander received the Doctor of Medicine Degree from Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tennessee. He served his Internship at Wilford Hall United States Air Force Hospital, San Antonio, Texas, and later entered Military Service in the United States Air Force, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. Dr. Alexander's residency was served in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Illinois at the Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois, 1969-1973 He also served as an In structor in Orthopedic Surgery at the Abraham ■rv 3 DR. EUGENE ALEXANDER An orthopedic Surgeon ' Lincoln School of" Medicine, Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Alexander is married to the former Diane Young, and they have three children, John, Tamjfra, and Teresa. YWCA’s Fall Series Begins Sept. 20th The International Club ot the YWCA is sponsoring a fall series “Minorities Have Helped Make America Great” which will be held at the Trade Center beginning Thursday, September 20. Community representatives of various nationality and religiotrs groups will discuss native UNCC To Expand Its to 7 t » ‘T "The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is ex panding its offerings in off campus locations this fall. Hoyle Martin, director of extension and continuing education announced the following programs off campus: deductive logic. Education Center, Sept. 10 Dec. 17; introduction to philosophy, Charlotte Country Day SeheoL Sept^Dec l9^ general criminal justice and psychology of adjustment, Law Enforcement Center; and goverment and politics of China, Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sept. 10-De^ l7 I customs and culture, religious faith, and the group's con tributions to American life. The series will begin at 7:00 p.m on September 20 with a pot-luck supper. Those at tending should bring a dish of food representative of his native country. Reservations for supper should be made by calling the Trade Street Center 333-7553-by noon on September 9. At 7:45 p.m. Walter Klein , President of the Walter Klein Company Ltd. will lead the discussion on the Jew Contribution. On Andrea Solomon, a Professor of History at the University of North Carolina who has traveled extensively in China, will present the Chinese Contribution. The Greek Contribution will be presented on October 4 at 7:30 p.m.’ by Nondas Kastanas. a movie actor. Mr. Kastanas has his own radio show, the Hellenic Voice of the South, which may be enjoyed in Charlotte. The final session of the series will be held on October 11 at 7:30 p m.
