Morgan To Open Branch Offices 4 Senate candidate Robert Morgan has pledged to open branch offices in various areas of North Carolina after he is elected in order to bring the U.S. Senate office ‘‘closer to the people." • ing,” Morgan said, "that the office I am seeking should be brought closer to the people, and I mean this literally. “In order to accomplish this, I will, soon after I take office, establish branch offices in various parts of the state so that citizens who have pro blems or complaints or who want to communicate with their elected senator will be able to do so and do so person ally." Jim Martin Seeks Re-Election Martin Begins Campaign For Re-Election Ninth District Congressman Jim Martin kicked off his campaign for re-election Thursday night, telling a crowd of supporters that he intends to continue pushing members of Congress to cut federal deficit spending. He said only by balancing the budget can Congress begin to f>ring inflation under control. Martin stressed that this is the most important goal facing the 93rd Congress in the time remaining before adjourn ment. Speaking at Park Center in Charlotte, the first term Re publican representative from Davidson said President Ford will soon present a plan to reduce excessive federal spending. Congressman Martin said those in Congress must be ready to support the President and make cuts in the budget across the board. He added that there are enough votes to sustain a veto, but added that a Presidential veto won't be needed “if the people elect those who will vote to restrain spending.” Congressman Martin said he does not expect to have much time to actively campa ign between now and the Nov ember 5th election, since the press of Congressional busi ness will keep him in Wash ington until mid October. He called on his supporters to be his spokesmen and advocates, spreading the word, door-to door. Eastern Cuts Charters Fare One Half Effective January 5,1975, Eastern.
