Subscribe To The CPCC’s Fall Faculty Conference Binds Friday This year, Monday, September 23 through Friday, September 27, has been set aside for Central Piedmont Community College’s Fall Faculty Conference. The sub ject of the week-long confer ence will be "Operation-Up date " most innovative junior instit utions in techniques of teach ing, CPCC has invited a world renowned figure to address its faculty and staff on "Alter nate Approaches to Educat ion”--Dr. Samuel B. Gould. Dr. Gould is Chancellor Emeritus of the State Univer sity of New York and has promoted the cause of innova tive instruction through his association with numerous colleges and universities, ag encies, and educational com missions throughout the world A Phi Beta Kappa graduate, Dr Gould is the recipient ol a dozen honorary doctoral degrees. He will add ress the full-time faculty and staff at 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon in Pease Auditor ium and the part-time faculty and staff at 7:30 p.m Monday evening. Tuesday morning at 9:45 the CPCC faculty and staff will take part in four simultaneous group discussions: "What's Happening in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools,” “What's Happening in Raleigh As It Affects CPCC,” “Com - prehensive Charlotte- - Mecklenburg Planning Through 1995,” and “What Should the Charlotte Mecklenburg Future Be?” The group discussion on “What’s Happening In the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools,” will be conducted by Dr. Carl R. Carlan, Associate Superintendent of the Program Services Division of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District. He will be assisted by panel members: James Emerson, Dr. Jack Mem, urace lempleton, Joe Champion, and Calvin Davis. Mr. Carl Stewart, Co-Chair man of the Advisory Budget Commission, State Board of Education, Raleigh, N.C. will have charge of the discussion of ’‘What’s Happening in Raleigh as It Affects CPCC?" He will be assisted by Dr live Chairman of the Presi dents Association of the North Carolina State Board of Ed ucation and Ed Stowe, Legis lative Chairman of the Trustees Association of the N.C. State Board of Educa tion. The group discussing "Comprehensive Charlotte Mecklenburg Planning through 1995" will be led by Isaac Heard of the Charlotte City Planning Commission. His main focus will be on: What does the future hold for Charlotte-Mecklenburg^ in terms of land use and facilities planning? Marion H. (“Moe”) Ward, I Executive Director of Dimen sions for Charlotte Mecklen burg, will lead the discussion on "What Should the Char lotte-Mecklenburg Future Be?" This topic will center around: What does the future hold for Charlotte-Mecklen burg in terms of people-orien ted community goals? „ J^rJMchard EL. Hagemey er, President of Central Piedmont Community College for the past eleven years, will add ress the assembled group of CPCC personnel on Wednes day morning at 9:30 a m. on the subject of “CPCC-Today? Tomorrow?” Thursday and Friday will be given over to Departmental Time. Each of the many de partments at the College, will meet separately to plan for the coming school year. The highlight of the entire week will be a picnic for all faculty and staff members of CPCC. This picnic will take place at the Veterans Park Pavilion at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
