In their first concert the 25 member-choir and several guest artists sang before a capacity audience in the church sanctuary amid light ed candlelabrums entwined with ivy. ..Mrs. Louise Harris, guest directress and soloist is an acitve member of Antioch Baptist Church where she is Assistant minister of music. She is well know throughout the Charlotte area and sur rounding cities and states for - her musical talents. . The choir was accompained Oil the organ b\ Ivan Davis. Minister ol Music, at \ntioch liaplist hurcli. Ilis musical tatents arc also widely known as he plays for many church, civic and community func tions. He is musician for •*<•. Gospel Choir of the l niversitv of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mr. Davis is a graduate ol West Charlotte High School. He attended the Governor's School of Fine Arts in W inston Saleiti: North Carolina Central I'niversity in Durham and Millikin I'niversity, Decatur. Illinois. He was also a soloist in the concert . . K\ angelist James C. Davis, guest pianist and soloist is a native of Mount Holly. lie is a member of Ml. /ion F.K.II. Holiness Church. Charlotte. N. C. and serves in the music department of New Hope and Livingstone Alumm to Sponsor Danee . .The Charlotte Chapter of the Livingstone College Alumni Association will be sponsoring a Mid-winter Dame. Satur day. February I. following the l.ivingstone-Johnson C. Smith Basketball Game. The dance will be held at the Kxcelsior Club from 9 p.m. to I a.m. “Sounds Cnlimited”, a discoteque type group, will be the entertainers for the night. Tickets can be purchased from any member of the Alumni Association. They are two dollars in advance and two dollars and fifty certs at the door. . The evening promises to be very exciting. The ladies were dressed in long pink dresses and the men in formal cool pink shirts. Rev. James il. Cotten. Pastor of the church introduced the concert and Mrs. Lena llelton Pickens. President of the choir. welcomed special guests and visitors. ..Featured soloists, in addi tion to special guest soloists, were saprano soloists Louise Wilson, Carolyn Stafford and Lillie Miller; Alto, soloists Dianne Abraham. Evelyn Murphy, Louise Doster, Valencia Swaringer, Luvenia Garland and Marilyn Swar inger; Tenor soloists Ronald Swaringer and Bobby Cly burn. . .A reception was held in the church Fellowship Hall immediately following the concert. ...Another great concert is planned to the held at the church on February 9. The Stewardess Boards of the Church will sponsor the Plea sant Hill Choir in Concert on the occasion of their Women's Day Celebration at 2:90 P.M.
