Federal Income Tax Rebates Will Mean Less Money In Your Pockets ..If you are planning on spending your 1*74 tax rebate, you'd better wait and find out how high your gasoline, heat ing. electric and food bills are going t4f* in 197$. According to President Ford's aides, the Ford plan for stimulating the economy and for decreasing energy consumption will end 1? rotting must—of—our in-— comes, because energy costs will be higher. They’re ar rived at this ominous conclu K' m by projecting a per family tlmate for the increase of inergy costs under the Presi lent’s plan. The low estimate ncrease in energy costs will •e about $233 dollars per fam ly for 1975. the high estimate iroject is estimated at about 345. . A low-middle income family averaging $8,000 a year) will ecelve about a $311 dollar tax ut, this rebate will cover Iheir increased energy costs, ind leave them $78 dollars „ Nctra. The middle Income Family (averaging $14,000 loliars a year), will receive shout a $253 dollar tax cut, this rebate will just about cover their increased energy bill, sad provide them with tzs in the good. The high-income tamlly (averaging 824.5M iollara a year) and receiving bout |183 dollars in tax re nte*. will have to pay an dditional $50 dollar* in cash o cover their Increased nergy costs. .Remember, all of the above iccurs if the President’s guess s correct: that the cost of snergy per family, under this plan, will represent an In crease (as a low estimate) of ■bout $233 dollars. ..If the $233 dollar figure is Incorrect, and if the Presi dent's nearer the mark, then all Income levels will be in trouble, because the proposed tax rebate will not absorb their energy cost increases at all. Low-middle families will have to give up their rebate to the energy Industry, and add $34 'dollars, middle income Mrs. Gillespie Entertains Garden Club ..The Washington Height's Garden Club held a meeting recently at the home of Mrs. Lula Gillespie of 1812 Madison Ave. The hostess Is the presi dent of the club. . .The discussion for the even ing included making final plans for a fund-raising pro ject and a preview of the events for the state convention to be held during August in Charlotte. ..Also the nominating committee informed the memberahin that th»v wnulri suggest a slate of officers for the next two years at the March meeting. .. Members present were Mrs. Lula Gillespie, Mrs. Lois Scott, Mrs.. Mary Corchane, Mrs. Edthel Choate, Mrs. Williet Patterson, Mrs. Cova Gaither, Mrs. Carrie Pitts, Mrs. Lula Hough, Mrs. Jessie Lee Hamlin, Mrs. Maude Smalls, Mrs. Viola Allison, and Mrs. Jannie Pride. ..Read the Charlotte Post - your best source of news for and about the people you hnow. families wlji have to add 192 dollars, and high income fam ilies will have to add )162 dollars to their respective tax rebates to pay for the extra • energy costs. ..In all the President's plan which purports to have as its purpose, the restimulating of the economy In terms of coo sumer purchasing power and increased industrial product ion. will have as its net effect, the further saddling of this nation with deeper inflation and deeper recession. This situation is clearly in flationary. and will not only continue last year's 12 percent Inflation rate, but will pro bably raise this rale because the spin-off factors are un known. It also represents an interesting facet of the Admin istration's view, because It demonstrates that the Admin istration's concern over fact ors leading to inflation, are conditioned by their own pur poses.
