MRS. SPURGEON STINSON ...The former Miss Annette Bankhead Miss Annette Bankhead Weds Spurgeon Stinson -At 6: to p.m. Saturday in York. South Carolina. Justice of The Peace, Charles F. JCSl Offers Recreational Activities Several active type re creational activities will be offered to the handicapped and elderly citizens (ft the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area this summer at Johnson C. Smith University. Swimming, archery, bad minton, croquet. shuffleboard, horsehoes and fly castings will be offered from June 16 through August 8 The courses will be offered from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday. Officials of Johnson C Smith advise if you are not connected with one of the agencies and want to partici pate in the program to contact C. R. Cox. Johnson C. Smith University. Nunn, joined in matrimony Miss Annette Bankhead and Spurgeon Stinson. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Maggie Bankhead and the late Howard Bankhead of 715 Templeton Avenue. The groom is the son of Mrs. Beulah Stinson and the late Thomas Stinson of Detroit, Michigan. For the occasion the bride wore a short peach dress with matching peach shoes. She carried one long-stemmed red rose. Attending her was Ms. Sarah Turner, who wore a lavender short dress and matching lavender shoes. Everett Young was the best man of Mr. Stinson. Mrs. Stinson is employed at Central Piedmont Community College as a key punch opera tor. Mr. Stinson is self-em ployed and owns Spurgeon Stinson’s Concrete Contract ors. The couple will go to Detroit for a wedding trip. Following the ceremony the couple were honored at the Shriner's Ball held in Gastonia at the Elk’s Club from 9 until 1. Strong-Grier Vows Said Saturday * -- Miss Peggy Strong became the bride Saturday of Fred Grier. Jr. The ceremony was held at the home of the bride's parents. Mr and Mrs Walter Strong of 1800 LaSalle St. The 1 p m ceremony was officiated by Rev Joseph Maxwell. The neckh®, was lace trimmed and alsw lace trim enhanced the front A Little Misses Lisa and Dan ya Brewington was in charge of the guest register. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the cou ple's honor at the Excelsior Club. Hostesses for the ocas sion included Mrs. Wvona Brewington, Mrs. Marie Wil liams, Mrs Jean McCorkle, and Mrs. Dinah King. The bride Chose yellow and white as her color scheme Mrs. Grier is employed with Celanese as a secretary. Her husband is employed with Bost Building Equipment. He also plays with the Hoskins Giants Baseball Team. After a wedding trip to Atlanta, the couple will live in Charlotte. Social Services Board To Meet In New (.enter The Mecklenburg County Board of Social Services will meet at a different location this month! The June meeting will be at 1 P.M., Tuesday, June 17. IN THE NEW SO CIAL SERVICES CENTER, 301 Billingsley Road. Mem bers of the Board will tour the building and see where the new Social Services offices will be located. All subsequent meetings of the Board will be at the Cen ter, rather than at the Central YMCA.
