Preview Of The Sunday School Lesson For August 17. This coming Sunday we will be discussing “Growing Closer Together’’. If there was ever a time when the world was in need of closer relation ships it is now. The peoples of the world are tired of war and are hungry for peace. But let us bring it a little closer to home. As an oppressed minor ity of people the Black race should be searching for ways to draw closer together. As we study our Bibles we find that sin not only separates man from God but sin also separ ates man from his fellow man. A strong nation of self determining Black people can only come from homes that are strong. Blacks will learn how to treat one another in the rnr^own than the oppressive •ace. We kill each other over a dollar, a dime, a drink of wine out mostly over unfaithfulness it seems. It does not seem to matter how large or small the subject of disagreement, once our anger is aroused some one is worthy of death. Not only are Blacks killing each others natural bodies but we dM^roy reputations to get whatever it is that we are after. It does not matter how many Black organizations or churches we are in unless we can see true fruit of racial tarmony we dis honor God. Jesus told us that the world ■could know that we are his by the love we have for one an other. When we can develope this U..A f__I___•11 home. How can we live toge ther peacably as a race when we cannot live peacably as a family. How can .we say we have Black pride and want to have power when so many of our men and women take pride in how successfully they can be unfaithful to their wives. How can we reasonably expect to deal with one an other on a foundation of trust in the world of politics and business when we can not trust one another with our dearest of possessions our husbands and wives. Do _we expect to grow closer as a race when we pass a brother on the street and ex change the power sign with one another only to find that same brother hitting us in the head for what we have a few blocks later. There will be no Black unity as long as we have to little regard for Black life hat we will murder more of see our people experiences power as never before. In stead of always looking for what someone else can do for us let us see first what we can do for ourselves by getting a right standing with God which Christ_has already gotten lor us, that we only have to except. Then we can exper ience not only devine guidance but devine energy also as we seek full human rights for ourselves but others as well. Do not be deceived by any political philosphy or ideo logy. The only way to exper ience true and lasting racial power is through righteous means. The Bible tells us that righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to all people. Visit the church of your choice this Sunday for a more detailed discussion on this subject. This spectacular occurance took place this past Sunday at Grier Heights Presbyterian Church, 325 Skyland Avenue. Summer Program Director, Devia Pellum, said they just thought it might be nice to do the famous fairy tale “in "color". "Fairy tales are for all kids and the characters shouldn't be seen as having to be white, especially if the audience is black."
