Larry Douglas Melton a
native of Washington, D. C. is

the Lincoln National Equity
Sales Corporation of Char
lotte, specializing in pension
and profit sharing programs
in addition to tax shelters,
variable annuities, stocks and
mutual bonds.
Melton, a 1972 graduate of
Livingstone College at Salis
bury was an outstanding de
fensive guard and co-captain
of the "Fighting Bears” his
senior year.
Employed by Lincoln Na
tional in 1972, he has complet
ed the agent’s basic training
course and the career course
in life underwriting. Because
he had the largest production,
he was named president of the
Agent's Training School.
Having completed Part 1 of
the Life Underwriters Train
ing Council Course, Melton is
currently enrolled in Part II.
He is a member of the Life
Underwriters Association; the
Emancipator Club; and Min
ute Man Club.
Me earned the Lincoln
Company’s second highest
award. President's Club, in
1973 and 1974, given for out
standing sales production by
an agent for a given year. He
was the recipient of the Presi
dent’s Honor Guard Award for
President’s Month in 1974, the
company's Alpha Concept
Agent Award in 1974, and the
National Quality Awardin'

Melton is affiliated with the
Charlotte Business Resource
Center and was responsible
for publishing the first Char
lotte Minority Business Direc
tory. He told this writer, “1 am
a strong believer in cash value
life insurance that pays divid
ends. It should be the founda
tion of all other investments.
You know you must have life
insurance - so why not make it
an investment - a savings that
will earn you a profit and still
have the necessary protection
that is needed for yourself as
well as for your family.”
Active in both church and
civic affairs, Melton is a
member of Greater Gethse
mane AME Zion Church,
where he serves on the build
ing committee. He and his
wife, Dianne, are the parents
of one son, Gary.
