Jems* A. Frleoen. peeler Message of the Week Fed Up Or Filled? There are many people in the world today who are "fed up" but not ‘‘filled.’’ and there is a vast difference between being “fed up” and being “filled ” Getting “fed up” on thrills of one sort or another is to suffer serious discomfort. But being "filled” makes for comfortable sat isfaction. r ~ ~Many people today are “fed up” but not filled. They suffer from acute spiritual indigestion. They have feasted on this thrill and that thrill; this excitement and that excitement. They have tried this scheme and that scheme. They have run with this crowd and they have had fun there. Yet they are not satisfied. They have tried to find happiness through bodily pleasure only to reap corruption. They have tried to find happiness in owning things only to discover that they didn’t want what they thought they wanted. They have sought happiness through the will to know-only to realize that just to know does not make life full and complete. Many people in the world today are “fed up.” but not filled. For people in this perturbed cond ition-Jesus has an answer. In Matthew 5:6 he says, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.” The Master is telling us here that if you would be filled instead of “fed up,” we must seek righteousness; we must seek goodness; we must hunger for righteousness. “Hunger and thirst” are strong words and Jesus used them deliber ately. When a man is hungry all of his energies are directed toward getting food. When a man is thirsty nothing is important except water. So that when we want righteousness as badly as we want food and drink, when we want goodness as much as we want bread and water-we shall be filled. Then and only then will life be organized around a significant and worthy hunger. Somewhere I saw a big billboard with the picture of a man smoking. Underneath the picture of the man who had smoke coming out of his mouth there was a sign which said “I would walk a mile for a Camel.” Now when we would walk a mile or a second mile for the truth; when the mile seems insignificant beside the satisfaction that truth yields a hun gry spirit; when we will walk a mile to make a wrong right because we are starved for righteousness; when we will walk a mile, or a second mile to forgive someone who has hurt us because we are hungry for goodness, we are not far from the Kingdom of God. If you would be filled instead of “fed up” with life, seek goodness, hunger and thirst for righteousness. “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.” r1 ■ This Page Is Sponsored By The Following Civic Minded Businesses ____ « ATTEND THE HOUSE OF WORSHIP OF YOUR CHOICE TAKE SOMEONE WITH YOU YOU'LL BOTH BE RICHER FOR IT —— :-^ rHE AMBASSADOR RUSH CRUSADE PRESENTS “THE GOSPEL CONCERT OF THE YEAR” FEATURING WONDERFUL COUNSELORS THE SOUL SEEKERS VOICES OF GRACE BURNING LIGHTS MORNING STARS CANDLE LIGHTS JACKSON FIVES ( OF WAXHAW, N.
