Smith University Basketball Team center Robert Lewis it’s first "MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD TROPHY” last Saturday night during half time activities at the JCSU j NCCU final-season game for “his outstanding efforts dur ing the 1975-76 basketball sea son." The Kingsmen Social Club, founded in April of 1971 and composed of a group of young men who are loyal supporters of Johnson C. Smith Univer sity have embarked on a multiple goal of several activ ities, all of which are benifi cial to Johnson C. Smith Uni versity. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is proud to be among the first to recognize Big Sisters’ need and purpose and then to make an actual committement. Several Delta Sigma Theta Sorority members are await ing match-ups, including: Grace Solomon, Bertha Max well, Lillian McRae, Audrey Blue, Geraldine Daniels, Daisy Roberson, Mamie Brewing ton, Brenda Hoover, Grace Atkinson, and Lucielle Two of the club’s goals are to purchase basketball uni forms and aid in the JCSU recruiting program. To this end they have spon sored a series of Teas’, car washes, raffles, dances, and various other social functions. The club has been rewarded for its efforts by “the present ation of a plaque from JCSU and the distinct pleasure of seeing their JCSU team do well in its endeavors,” accord ing to club spokesman Jimmy Dodd In addition to their efforts at JCSU, the Kingsmen Social Club distributes food for needy families, aides the sick and elderly, and awards various trophies to deserving young men with exceptional athletic and scholastic abilities. Their most recent fund rais ing activity was a GAS RAFFLE on Saturday, February 21, to obtain funds for the athletic program and other community activities.
