Robert L. Davis Jr. ...Junior high principal Bob Davis Wins N.C Congress PTA Award "I am delighted. This was a first for me to receive any kind of award of this kind,” said Williams Junior High School principal Robert'L. Davis Jr. Davis, a principal for seven years, has been awarded a life membership in the North Carolina Congress of Parents and Teachers Association. The certificate was presented at the February meeting of the association by a representa tive of its state office. The certificate cited Davis for “successful work with children.” "Teaching has always been my desire,” Davis said. He worked as an assistant princi pal for seven years before he was named principal. The Charlotte native, a graduate of West Charlotte High School and Johnson C. Smith Univer sity, also taught school for six years. He was instructor for grades 7, 8, 9 and his subjects were language arts and social studies. Davis worked almost eight years with IBM before he began his first teaching assignment. He has worked with the parents-teachers association “every since I’ve been into teaching,” he said. Davis, 47, lives at 2905 Remington Street. He and his wife Frances have two children. Their daughter Sherry Davis Young teaches in Birmingham, Alabama and their son Robert L. Davis III is a second year law student at Howard UniverSit^ Sn Wash ington, D.C. w m.T •• uin^. ng Students Are Number One Nursing students at Univer sity of North Carolina at Char lotte can shout “We’re num ber one.” UNCC officials have been informed that the College of Nursing had the highest per centage of successful candi dates of all the 11 baccalau reate nursing programs in the state on the recent N.C. State Board Licensure Examina tions. The class mean scores at UNCC in each of five subjects were above 530 when 350 is the minimum passing score. One UNCC candidate had more than 600 on each of the five subjects. There were 28 candi dates whose scores on each te. Jwere above 500. - The five areas covered are medical, surgical, obstetric, and psychiatric nursing and nursing of children.
