Representatives of the Council of Aging, Char lotte Area Fund and other organizations will participate in the Tuesday ceremonies. The Strawn ceremonies will be followed by a visit of a special demonstration bus to Charlotte .Housing Authority homes for the elderly at Addi son Apartments (Morehead and McDowell Streets), Ed win Towers, Piedmont Courts and Earle Village. Wednesday, July 14, is Up town Day. The demonstration bus will be at the Main Li brary (9:30 a.m.), Latta Ar cade (11:30 a.m.), City Hall (1:30 p.m.) and at 4:00 p.m. in front of the Commerce Center. The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce will host a recep tion in honor of the new transit system at 4:30 p.m. Visits of the display bus to Central Piedmont Community College, Johnson C. Smith University, and UNC-C will occur on July 15. The idea of the REUNION started when, according to Mrs. Marie Davison Steele, "My mother said last year she wanted us all here (in Char lotte) at the same time.” Mrs. Steele added, "They (the chil dren and other close relatives) all come home at some time or another during the year.” With Mrs. Steele and her sister, Delora Davison,, coor dinating the activities "highly successful and very enjoy able” the Davison’s held a 3-day reunion, July 2,3,and 4 with approximately 50 clan members and friends attend ing from as far away as Detroit, Michigan. Della and Palmer Sullins live in Tuskeegee, Alabama Also attending were: Bennie Davison, and his wife Iona, and son, Daryl; Mrs. Allie Davison Hughley, a former secretary who is now a house wife, and her daughter Del cenia Holland, of Tuskeegee, Alabama; Marie Davison Steele, a teacher in the Char lotte-Mecklenburg School Sys tem, and her husband. Wood row, and daughters Karen and Yvette; Mrs. Dorothy Davison Johnson, a Registered Nurse with the U.S. Public Health Hospital, Baltimore, Md., and her. husband Andrew and daughter Andrewetta; Miss Delora Davison, a Literature Chemist with Celanese Chemi cals, of Charlotte; Mrs. Vivian D. Firth, owner of .The Four Forty Eight Hotel and Apart ments complex, Detroit, Mich.,“and her son Deweese Gilyard of Charlotte. Of Mrs. Davison’s 8 child ren, 1 son and 7 daughters, only one, Mrs. Delcenia Davi son Bell, of Denver, Colorado, was unable to attend their first reunion. Special guests at the Family Reunion were: Mrs. Delcenia Simpson, of Charlotte, and Mrs. Mirian Glenn, of Balti more, Md., the only two living aunts of the Davison children. Alana Slocum, 2, daughter of Marsha and Milton Slocum, was the youngest family mem ber attending the reunion, and Mrs. Vivian Firth, of Detroit, traveled the furthest to be with the group. Reunion activities began Friday, July 2, with the ga thering of family and friends for a COOKOUT at the home of Marie and Woodrow Steele on English Drive. Saturday's activities con sisted of a visit to Carowinds Amusement Park from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and a cruise on Lake Norman aboard the pleasure craft The Outrigger from 7 p.m. until 10:00. Family members attended Sunday Morning Worship Ser vice at their home church, Mt. Zion AME Zion Church on the Fort Mill Highway, pastored by Rev. Ira Benson, where clan members Yvette Steele, 10, of Charlotte, and Andre wetta Johnson, 10, of Balti more, Md., were baptized. Ap proximately 53 family mem bers and friends attended the dinner, of chicken, Salisbury steak, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, peach cob bler, and beverages, which was highlighted by the relat ing of comical incidents which occurred during the “growing up” years of the children and the presentation of gifts to matriarch Davison. New Personnel Director At Mercy Hospital Thomas R. Krejci has joined SifercyTlospital as Director of Personnel Relations. Krejci holds a B .S degree in Business Administration from Nebras ka Wesleyan and a Masters of Science in Hospital and Health Services Administration from Ohio State University. A native of Nebraska, he was formerly with Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. He join ed the staff of Mercy Hospital on June 21.
