FOOTBALL FUN...There were a lot of people
on the strip last Saturday night! Johnson C.
Smith’s first game of the season spilled the folks
onto the streets and into places like Mr. Silks
Lounge, Midway Lounge, Big Apple Lounge,
Excelsior Club and The VIP Club.
Most of these people were Smith followers, and
they let it be known by making big merry, big
predictions, and big bets on the games to come.

FASHION TIME...To be fashionable is to
conform to the custom, fashion or established
mode especially in dress. Furthermore, I am
sure you will agree with me that this is a town of
very fashionable brothers and sisters. As a
prelude to the fall fashions that will soon spring
up around town, VIP productions along with the
House of Charles put together a show of fashions
. last Sunday evening at the VIP Lounge, that
dazzled the “four hundred” senses of a very
. stylish audience.
Jacqueline Morrow set the visual atmosphere
- with her artistic floral arrangement. Luther
Maxwell and Matt Freeman kept everything
imellow, music wise, while the beautiful Shirley
; Thompson narrated the styles worn by models
Bradford Holland, Karen Cole, Wardell Wil
liams, Nikki Tweed, Maggie Latimore, Yvonne
McGee, Dorothy Fields, Sheryl Williams, R.B.
Phifer, and Alonzo Mackins Jr...
Some of the guests attending the romantically
creative function were Sovella Little, Carolyn
Pratt, Hattie Ardrey, Kitt Massey, Frank
. Wright, Dottie Osborne, Walter McCoy, Chris
tine Osborne, Charles Wherry, Carolyn Caldwell,
• Barbara Eubanks, Evelyn Hopkins, Mary Mc
Kinney, Maggie Latta, Bowman Sadler, Robert
Parker, Shirley Thomas, Tommy Hunter, Patri
cia Caldwell, Pamela Jones, Wanda McClure,

1827 Lookout Lane, businessman, promoter and
chess player par excellance is sponsoring
another tournament. This one is entitled the
“Third Carowinds Tornado,” and will be held at
the Holiday Inn, 1-77 and U.JT21 off Carowinds

from 9 a.m. til 8 p.m.

Speaking of chess, I’ve gotten word that some
lovelies are organizing a chess club in this area.
So, to all of you dudes, when I get more word, I’ll
pass it on to you for what ever it may be worth.
CHECK THIS OUT...When the best meet the

anyway, and moving right along!

for me last Sunday night to meet with some of

Sunday at Crystal Springs Golf Course and the
awards function was held at the Excelsior Club.
