Alpha Pi Chi
Sorority F ocuses On Nursing Home
By lone Jones
Special To The Post
Lee s Nursing Home, Rea
mes Road, has been the focus
of concern this year for the
members of the Alpha Beta
Chapter of Alpha Pi Chi Soro
rity.
| The chapter has divided
itself into groups of four to six
persons, and volunteers, who
visit the nursing home each
month carrying good cheer to
the patients who are guests
there. This project has offered
many hedrt-warming ex
periences in mutual human
relations for the Beta chapter
members and the patients
whom they serve, and to
whom they carry gifts with
each visit.
The many and varied activi
ties have included Bingo and
other games, song sessions,
discussions on current events,
shared reminiscences of un
forgettable experiences or
happenings in their lives, and
their future hopes and aspira
tions.
One memorable event was a
recent cook-out at the nursing
home. Alpha Beta sorors pro
vided the food, consisting of
hamburger steaks, hot dogs,
salads, baked beans, potato
chips, home-made cookies,
punch, etc. The tables were
set out on the beautiful lawn
under the trees, and while a,
part of the Beta crew did the
cooking and serving, the
others entertained the pa
tients with jokes and stories,
and joined them in singing the
songs they wished to sing. It
was an afternoon of fun and
fellowship thoroughly enjoyed
by all, including the staff of
the nursing home.

The County has leased a

“As elected officials who

Mathias and other commit

assault laws into sequential
steps with stiffer penalties in
relation to severity of harm to
the victim and to aggravating
factors such as use of weapons

Rep. Mathias said that for
each of the proposed six steps,
a narrower range of penalties,
than is now allowable should
be recommended. No proba
