~ -Q- ________ # ~ ~ ~ “Man’s Responsibility In The Home” By J. M Little In order to find man's re sponsibility in the home we lave to go to the word of God. The home is the oldest institu ion in the Word of God. In the garden of Eden, God made the irst home. Our first parents, Vdam and Eve, made up the irst home. Many may not igree with me, but a close itudy of the very first two ihapters of Genesis show man Adam) as being the “head'' if the home even before the ‘fall.” Now ~you~study that losely and see if you don't ind that to be true. When I come to a subject ike this 1 tremble.' Man's esponsibility to God for the iome is awful. In Genesis 3:16 t says: “Unto the wortlan he laid, I will greatly multiply iiy sorrow and thy concep ion; in sorrow thou shalt >ring forth children; and thy lesire shall be to thy husband, md he (Adam) shall rule over hee (Eve)." There we see -rod establishing man as the ‘ruler” of the home, the ‘head.” Now I know we have i lot of skunks as heads, we ll leal with that a little further lown in this study. Genesis 1:16 has never been changed ind never will be. The gravest responsibility rests on the nan as head and caretaker of the home. In Genesis 3:19, we find God placing the material needs and welfare of the home on the man, listen: ‘‘In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread.” So we see another responsibility here: man is to go out and work for the family. Earn a living for it. God made man’s body to work, not a woman’s body. Then when we see men who are too lazy to work to support their wives and children, what a tragedy! Oh, my dear man, if you only knew the responsibility God has placed on you! You are going to have to answer one day for your responsibility God has placed on you. Now you had better think seriously men. If I as a saved man tremble at the responsibility God has placed on me as head of my home, how about you lost men? You don’t tremble do you? No, you don’t. God hnUc -11 1 - t_ what goes on in the home. Let me ask you a question, are you taking your responsibility se riously? Are you? You may take your responsibility light ly, but God doesn't take it lightly. One day you men will have to give an account as to how you ran your home, you are the head so you are going to answer to God. Have you ever sat down and studied God’s Word on your responsi bility? Now I hope all you women who read my mes sages will lay this one before your husbands and plead with them to read it. Man is to rule the home with a “rod of love,” not be a dictator. Some of you men rule with an “iron fist.” Your wives and children are afraid of you. You’re cruel as hell. Everything has got to go to suit your cussed will. If you can’t get you way about every thing, you raise the roof. Some of you men are always nag ging at the wife, blaming”her for this and that instead of taking the blame on yourself. Let’s see what God says about it. It doesn’t matter what you and I say, it's what God says about it man, and you are going to square your life with God's Word or go to hell. Listen to the Word of God: “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also lovyj the churctranc^av^iimfg^or VriH ■■■ liffflllflHBHHHH J. M. Little it." Now I'm going to use some plain english here and every one will understand what I mean. I cannot conceive of a man loving his wife and caus ing her untold misery by going out and laying up with some woman out in the street. If a man loves his wife he wants her to keep herself unspotted from the world and he should do likewise. You don’t want your wife going to bed with another man, no, you don't! Then why do you break her heart by going out and laying up'' with some whore? How about it men?! You know you’re wrong. Why in the name of high heaven will you tear up a good home? Some of you men are such low down dogs you ought to be tarred and feathered, and that isn’t good enough for you. Some of you men are always looking for "greener pastures." Why will you wreck a good home like that? God is going to meet you at the judgment, Man! Here is a marvel: a man will wonder why the kid of some wealthy family went out and robbed a store or got mixed up in drugs when his family had seemingly everything mate rial to offer that kid. Alright, you answer this question and I’ll answer yours. Here’s a man who has a good wife, faithful wife, lovely children, good job, the Lord has blessed you abundantly, then you go out and lay up with some whore knowing you are going to break up your family. Now you answer that and you’ll have the answer to why the kid of the rich family broke in the store and stole something. No man wants a wife who runs around with other men. What would you do if you caught your wife in the bed with another man? Well, why do you get in the bed with another woman? You know you dort’t want your wife out there like that. Some of you men will tom cat with every woman you can and if you have the least idea your wife has her eyes on another man, you’re ready to blow the roof off, yes you are. It’s just a rotten low down skunk that would do just a thing like that. So I’m talking to a bunch of rotten low down skunks. If it's your determina tion to live like that, breaking that woman’s heart you may as well go on out and take a shot gun and blow your brains out and go on to hell, man! You ought to go to hell. God ought to send you to the hottest place in hell. You are just a rotten skunk on the road to hell. A man is supposed to love his wife, not someone else's wife. You can’t have two lovers, man. Now that's going to make some of you low down cusses mad, but you are going to hell. How many of you men have destroyed good homes by your loose living? Brother, it’s awful what you are going to face at the judgment. Listen to the Word of God: “Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4). So God will meet you in judgment. Here’s a man who says one woman can’t satisfy him, “I’m going to get all the women I can.” If that is your attitude, you are going to hell as straight as a martin to his gourd, man! Now you let that soak in. Listen again men: "And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4). There we see man’s responsibility as priest of the home. Yes, to teach your family the Word of God. How many of you men are doing that? How many of you men are having devotion in your homes? Does your family see you study the Word? It would do your family good to hear you cry for mercy. Have you ever cried for mercy? Have you? Oh, the awsome respon sibility on us as men! I trem ble, do vou? Bill Johnson s Charlotte Post Newspaper North Carolina s court sys tem is not exactly highly regarded in terms of its re spect and desire for justice, but the Ronnie Long trail this past week in the Cannon Mill town of Concord represented a reduction to another, lower level. Ronnie Long, a 20-year old Black youth, was -convicted.oL. midnight burglary and rape regarding the assault on the widow of a Cannon Mill execu-' tive after a week-long trial in which the verdict was fore ordained. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, a feat not surprising when one considers that an all-white jury was selected to judge him. And on top of that, 7 of those whites work at Cannon Mills One might say that this represent ed a conflict of interest, but the judge apparently didn't think so. bui me lurmer suDierran ean direction of North Caro-* lina criminal justice system was not predicated upon all this. The real kicker comes in that it was used to save the reputation of a wealthy, white widow of Cannon Mills execu tive and to avenge her ravish ment at the hands of a Black man, allegedly; we have only her word. In any case, any Black man wouid have beejj sufficient, as long as someone was convicted. Ronnie Long just happened to be a Black man who would not bow down to the oppression, a characte ristic that is very troublesome in a mill town like Concord where Cannon Mills Corpora tion dominates the social, eco nomic and political life of not only the city of Concord, but also the county of Cabarrus, of which Concord is the county seat. In a town in which working class people must face oppression daily on the job, working for sub-standard wages and breathing in cotton dust which eventually sends them to an early grave, any one who stands up to the system is extremely dange rous. Konnie was seen as a poten tial Black militant and had to go. And the new Ku Klux Klan, who wear the black robes of the judiciary and who serve the ruling class, were only too willing and able to do the job. What happens now depends upon the people. Over 200 supporters filled the court room each day of the trial to witness one of the most bla tant frameups in North Caro lina history, and witnessed the police riot that followed after ward, in which several people were hurt. Two hundred marched this past Saturday to show their solidarity with Ronnie Long. Now comes the hard work of organizing and mobilizing the people of Con cord to demand that justice be served--with Ronnie’s free dom. Only with the mass mobilization of the people will he be set free.
