He Uvea on York Road, near the park, on land that has been in his family for seven generations. The steeply rolling land in the park is ideally suited for a natural park area. Hardwood forest covers the hillsides and Lake Wylie spreads over al most a mile of shoreline. Small streams provide excel lent growing conditions for beds of ferns and forest wild flowers. Careful planning has gone into the overall design, with roads winding around the trees that were to be saved and buildings constructed to blend harmoniously with na ture. The roof of each building iâ designed to accomodate solar panels so that eventually the buildings might be heated with solar energy. In the parking prnac pierced blocks have been used, and they allow rain to pass through and into the ground, thus eliminat ing runoff that could cause erosion. Visitors may enter the park free of charge, and there is no charge for parking. The year round resident manager is A.B. Caddell, who will reside in the maintenance-ranger station area. ■ BEWITCHING BEAUTY-Beautiful Fayette ville State University (N.C.) coed Renee Wilkins, a junior business administration major from Rocky Mount, N.C., plans to play trick or treat this Haloween as she smiles at her Jack O'Latern.
