Church News Briefs J,eflIsIs,I:0rd Eyan^tic Association Is Newly Formed Group Of Christians uoisv nasunauun, 1010 L.1111* wood Place, is a newly formed organization of Christians. Evangelist Dennis L. John son is president of the associa tion, which meets on Wednes day and Friday nights from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Praise ser vices are held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Sunday. Johnson said the association started as a weekly neighbor hood Bible study group. “Their study was so suc cessful,” said Johnson, “that the Holy Spirit compelled us to reach more souls for the Lord Jesus. We met so many people who were not receiving the spiritual guidance needed for their lives." Shirley Wilson, one of the members, says that since she started meeting with the group she has found the study of the Bible more applicable to her life. “I had been a good church member all of my life but I was not saved. When I did accept Christ I was so thankful that I wanted to learn all I could about Him and His Holy Word. Sunday morning service was inspiring, but when I attended our weekly Bible study it was as if the minister did not really believe what he had preached. I would leave doubting whe ther God’s word was true. Most of the members did not question what the minister said because he had been to my neari mere was a yearning to know the Lord more closely, to really feel His power in my life. Although I was being told that I had received everything from the Lord when I was saved I continued to earnestly seek the Lord. Soon, He bless ed me with His Baptism of the Holy Spirit, which as His word promised, has edified my Christian Life. If it had not been for the love and encou rangement of the Members of J.I.L'. I probably would have believed my minister instead of God’s Word. Now I am growing and learning how to live for the Lord.” Members of the Jesus Is Lord Evangelistic Association are caught up in love. James Clinton, another active mem DENNIS AND JANE JOHNSON ...New organization leaders Der, says mat is whal attracted him to the organiza tion. "Everyone had a genuine smile, and I wanted what they had. They shared Christ with me in such a beautiful way that I wanted to do the same for others. Our Bible studies are Spirit led and the scrip tures are regarded as the inspired word of God,” said Clinton. Johnson's wife, Jane, says that J.I.L. has had a tremen dous impact on her Christian life. “I gave my life to the Lord when I was sixteen,” she said, “but I was not taught how to live, so I backslid. The next eight years were really bad for me. I was still active in my church yet I was not living for the Lord. I had a desire to return to Jesus but no one showed me how. I had no confidence in myself so satan continued to be the victor in my life. Through the love and encouragement of my hus band and the members of J.I.L., I came to realize how forgiving Jesus is. I was also made aware of the power we have through Him. As I began to realize the depth of God's love, I began to gain victory." Mrs. Johnson says that the Lord has blessed her with a wonderful husband and with the Rift of faith. “Now all I want to do is please Him. Dennis and I are being obedient and serving the Lord with all we have."
