Viiiui t/ΐί ι ut icyj Bishop Sherman Named Chairman Of Church Of God In Christ's Board Of Bishona Bishop Joseph Sherman of Pentacostal Temple Church of God In Christ was elected chairman of the Board of Bishops of Church of God In V Christ, Inc. at the 69th Annual < Holy Convocation in Memphis, - Tennessee, November 5hl8. ■f A group of 25 local church members headed by Bishop Sherman and Rev. Joseph Sherman Jr. attended the con vocation. About 85,000 of the approximately 3-million mem ber church attended the con vocation. "Hungers of the Human Families" was the theme of the annual gathering. Sherman will serve on the board for a 4-year term. He has served as secretary of the body. He was elected chair man by a difference of only one vote. As chairman, the Charlotte based minister will take part in administering the construc tion of "Saint's Center," the proposed $20-million head quarters of the church body planned for Memphis. Sher man said the site for the new complex was donated to the church. The new chairman of bi shops projects an increase frqjm the 1975 church budget of $7$,000 to a 1976 budget of $2-million. Sherman said his church is the largest black pentacostal group in America and the fastest growing religious or ganization. Local church members plan a testimonial dinner for Sher man on December 7.
