Martin Sr. Post Executive Editor Sybil Morgan, assistant pro fessor of nursing at UNC Charlotte, has been nominated by the American Association for the Care of Children to : organize and direct an ethnic .. minority cultural workshop at the association’s 1978 meeting to be held in Washington, D.C. Ms. Morgan, founder of the ■ association’s Charlotte chap ter, was nominated as work shop leader for next year „ «a result of her outstanding comnouuon on a pane] at this year’s meeting which dealt - with the culture of the black , family. It was her expressed -concern for example, of the tendency to stereotype - blacks that led to next year’s •» workshop being broadened to -. deal with all ethnic minorities. The association, which met _ in Dearborn, Michigan, May *■ 21-26, is an interdisciplinary - organization committed to the : care of all children. _. Ms. Morgan, a graduate of ■' Winston-Salem State Univer »ity. was one of 1,500 partici pants in this year’s associa tion meeting. Fifty blacks were in attendance with Ms. Morgan being one of four fl: North Carolina reDresenta •\.,cal beliefs of ^ care of childre she financed vol'ved for her trip and parti cipation in the awociation’s . meeting. This was due to such expenses exceeding the local chapter’s financial status.
