Little Theatre Announces New Plays The Little Theatre of Char lotte proudly announces its play for the 1977-78 season. The opening production will be a Dale Wasserman’s stage adaptation of Ken Ktesey’s brilliant and moving novel, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest." In past seasons, it has been Little Theatre policy to confine dramas and comedies to two week runs but due to the enormous popularity of the novel and cinematic version, it was decided to schedule it for a three week run as we do our musicals. The playing dates for this production are Sept. 15 - Oct. 1, 1977. (Thurs - Sat performances). The second offering is Hotel -Paradise, a rollicking Frency comedy in 3 acts by Georges Feydeau and Maurice DesVal lieres adapted by Peter Glen ville. Written in the 1960’s it was produced in New York and starred the late, great comedian, Bert Lahr It will be produced Nov. 10-19. (Thurs - Sat perf.) 1977. “To Kill a Mockinbird,” a mid season production, is ano ther stage adaptation of a successful novel, Harper Lee’s portrait of a small Sou thern town in the 1930’s as seen through the eyes of child ren. This production will be a departure from the usual cast ing of the Little Theatre in that the three main characters are children. The production dates for this production are Feb. 9 - 18, 1978. (Thurs - Sat. perf.) “Ring Around the Moon,” the second comedy of the season is an unusually fresh, sophisticated comedy by Jean Anouilh, with stage adaptation by Christopher Frey. Having been described by one critic as a ‘Charade with music” the play enjoyed outstanding suc cess in both New York and London. The plot is a delight ful and enchanting perfor mance of double identities and young love and sub plots of a middle-age affair and cynical, elegant old ladies. It will run Mar. 33 - Apr. I, 1978. (Thur - Sat. perf.) Little Theatre's musical fare for the season has the distinction of being Broad way’s longest running musical r——— I. - 3,242 performances and has recently been mounted again - "Fiddler on the Roof,” (based on Shalom Aleichene’s stories, book by Joseph Stein, music by Boch and lyrics by Har nick) has been both critical and public acclaim. It is the exhuberant, poignant and fun ny story of Tevye the dairy man, Golde his wife, and their five exasperating daughters. The setting is a poor Russian village, Anatevka, where the plot takes the family on an exodus from the old tradition bound life to a new land of change...and hope. This show production will run the usual three weekends alloted to our musicals and will be produced May 11 thru May 27, 1978. Eugene Kusterer, the Artis tic Direction from the 78-77 season will return as the Artis tic Director for the 77-78 sea son. The theatre has also hired a Technical Director who is Ben D’Agostino, provided through the City Manpower Depart ment and funded by a grant from the U.S. Labor Compre hensive Employment and Training Act of 1973 (CETA).
