...Dresses to please his wife
Dannelly: “You Can
Tell A Man By His Clothes”
“I dress to meet the appro
val of my wife,” says Charlie
S. Dannelly. “She is my mos
severe critic and usually has a
strong opinion about what is
best for me.”
“I feel though, that I contri
buted greatly and maybe even
started the evolution of local
principals from the basic blue
and grey suits into varying
color schemes and the emer
gence of personal style,” con
'tinued Dannelly.
Charlie S. Dannelly is prin
cipal of Quail Hollow Junior
High School, a Johnson C.
Smith University graduate
and Chairman of the Tip-off
Tournament (an annual bas
ketball event at Johnson C.
Smith).

by his clothes; then one has
only to look at Charlie Dannel
ly to know he is^Ufitold and

A man that will shop any
place and that looks every
place, Mr. Dannelly would
dress the same regardless of
his position. “My main objec
tive is to look decent. I will
shop anyplace from Tate
Brown’s to an outlet store. I,
quite simply, am a shirt and
tie person,” said Dannelly.

Plaids and stripes are a
dominate part of Dannelly’s
wardrobe because of a versa
tility they offer. “A plaid
jacket can be the impetus of
several outfits by simply
changing and interchanging
the color variation of the
accessories,” continued Dan
nelly. "Blues, tans and
browns are base colors from
which I start.” He then added
“Skin tone plays a crucial pari
in selecting a garment.”
A man of tall and slim
stature, Charlie Dannelly
buys Dredominately European
cut suits because of their body
cuts. He more or less stays
away from designer items but
does like the flair of Cardin,
Arthur Richards and some of
the others.
"A man can, however, wear
a $300 suit and not be dressed
due to the fact that he failed to
put proper emphasis on his
accessories. An ill fitting jac
ket, rundown and unpolished
shoes, improper sleeve length
of jacket and shirt and clash
ing rather than compliment
ing color contrasts of shirt and
tie all can ruin an otherwise
elegant garment,” related
For those casual occasions
when a shirt and tie simply
won’t do, Dannelly pre
fers, in summer, a crisp print
shirt with pale natural colored
slacks. White or plae blue
slacks made of linen or a linen
polyester blend is his forte..
During the winter months a
turtleneck sweater, slacks and
usually a Sussek sports jacket
of wool gabardine feels most
comfortable and suits his per
sonal image.
Occasionally Dannelly will
wear jewelry; That wear
is usually confined to a gold
chain around the neck for
casual wear or a gold watch
chain with a three piece suit.
“1 always wear a copper
bracelet for my arthritis,” a
smiling Dannelly said.
A teacher by nature, Charlie
• Dannelly thinks teachers are
the most influential people on
earth because of their contact
and the persuasion they can
exert with-over the young. “I
want the young people that I
meet to know they too can look

Flavorful Spanish Translation^
If you're going to Spain, get set for surprises. The major
cities and the places in between Barcelona and the color
ful south, between Malaga and the lesser-known but capti
vating Atlantic coast, between Santiago and San Sebastian,
and Madrid-all provide stunning scenic and historical
splendors. The people everywhere are immensely hospi
table and WHAT FOOD! Fantastico! Spain's cookery is
imaginative and delicious (not at all spicy), and the sea
fire is outstanding, especially the savory mixed seafood
. r&sserole, called zarzuela.
As in America, dishes made with shellfish are special
occasion fare for modern Spanish homemakers—and many
use less expensive canned tuna (as we do) for quick "con
vgat-Mire" versions of seafood favorites. A good example
is this recipe for Tuna Zarzuela, a flavorful and easy
translation of the original with little of its expense ot

Dr. Williams Has High Interest In Clothes
by Jacquie Levister
Post Staff Writer
"I don’t consider myself a
particularly good dresser, I
just try to present a good
appearance,” says Dr. C.W
Williams.
Dr. Williams, a local surge
on with a hectic schedule, has
a high interest in clothes He
said, "the things that I am
really interested in. my pa
tients would think I'm nuts it
I wore them to the office."
To accomodate both his pro
fessional demeanor and his
personal preference. Dr. Wil
liams has found he has no
choice but to maintain two
wardrobes. When not at his
office or one of the local
hospitals, he prefers to wear
leather, suede and pigskin
goods "Those styles I cannot
wear to the office.” stated
Williams.
Two wardrobes necessitates
two modes of shopping. For
office wear there are local
stores such as Ivey's and J.O.
Jones at which he can make
purchases from the racks. “I
I
minx i am too tat to buy
European fashions from the
rack If I am getting a desig
ner suit it will be an American
designer such as Bill Blass,”
stated Williams. He continued
by saying.” I get things that
can be made to fit with the
slightest amount of altera
tions ”
Dr Williams subscribes to
fashion magazines such as
Gentlemen's Quarterly to stay
abreast of the latest fashions.
"I sometimes see things that
appeal to me that I cannot find
locally. When this happens I
will wait perhaps six months
until I find what it is that I
want. However, there are tim
es when I have waited to find
and purchase that one item
I've been looking for. only to
find it either doesn't fit or I
simply don't like it on my
person,' a smiling Williams
related.
When making purchases for
the personal side of his per
sonality he shops in some of
the larger department stores
of New York; Bloomingdales
being one of his favorites.

When asked if he felt he was
extravagant with his purchas

"If I find a good leather suit
with a medium lapel that can
be worn maybe 10 years then I
don't think paying $600, tor it
is an extreme.
