Robert Davis ...Dapper dresser Davis Favors Conservative Form Of Dress By Hoyle H. Martin Sr. Post Executive Editor Robert L. Davis, recently named the Post’s "Man of the Year," has also been named one of the “10 Best Dressed Men of the Year," for the period ending June 30. The Post's editor-publisher, William "Bill" Johnson, said, “This recognition of physical appearance reflects our con cern with personal - but hum ble-pride, a pleasing persona lity and a likeable attitude because these are areas that we feel every individual should be conscious about. Davis best illustrates, in our judgment, these qualities in the Charlotte community. This recognition indicates too our view that physical appea rance is a reflection of pers onality and attitude.” ijf U1 CSSCU LfdVIS - in a blue pen-stripped suit with a white shirt, blue tie and red dots and blue patten-lea ther shoes - said he felt “hono red.” A public school adminis trator and leader of the Black Political Caucus, Davis said, “Your physical being is im portant because an initial ap perance often leaves a lasting impression. Furthermore, ap pearance enables one often to gain attention which is often necessary to accomplish del-'H Sire<! objective,,| supply try to dress in a manner that reflects these views.” Davis noted also that “while wearing apparel does not make the person, it often reflects one’s personality. He said his favorite colors are black, blue and white. How ever, he prefers all white in the summer. In responding to questions about current men’s styles, Davis said “I question some of the way-out fashions of today - high heel shoes, bold mixed colors in shirts, etc. -1 favor a more conservative form of dress.” ine next time you see an erect-standing, immaculate ly dressed black man in a white suit, sky blue shirt, patten-leather white shoes and white socks with a friendly debonair manner it will pro bably be Mr. Robert L. “Bob" Davis.
