—By Jim Berry Frankie Beverly and Maze have officially hit gold with their Capitol debut album, "Maze.” Another album is in the works, and should be out shortly after the group finish es touring with George Clinton and his P-Funk Earth Tour. 0 Marvin Gaye's “Got To Give It Up" has been at the top of the charts for months. . . Now another tune with the same title recorded by The Most Requested Rhythm Band on Magic Disc Records has been released. Record officials at Magic Disc feels this version will also get a lot of attention (The record may not, but the album cover sure should!) 0 A rare live album by Lonnie Liston Smith is now available on RCA Records. It’s called “Lonnie Liston Smith...Live.” It features a version of “Ex pansions" that’s out of sight. V The new, revamped. Spin ners have just released a new single entitled “Heaven on Earth (So Fine)” on Atlantic Records. Former lead singer Phillip Wynne, now out on his own, will still be heard on some of their new releases. (Can you believe that Wynne and Boot sy Collins of Bootsy’s Rubber Band were once in the same goup in Cincinnatti?). 0 Speaking of Phillip Wynne, expect good things in his debut album, appropriately called “Start All Over Again." Hope fully, Wynne’s solo career will be better than his predecessor with the Spinners, G.C. Came ron. A good disco bet is the Brothers Johnson's new long playing 45 on A&M Records. One side features the disco version of “Get The Funk Out Ma Face,” the other has their newest disco hit, “Strawberry Letter No. 23." This and other, disco LP's are featured at the Soul Shack in downtown Char lotte. Brick is back. Now they've gone from "Dazz" to “Dusic.” It's good music to boogie by, but it sounds too much like their lirst jam. 0 Coming soon...a new Earth, |f==*K==«c=HK= Jim Berry Wind, and Fire LP. A release date hasn't been set, but Mau rice White and Company have taken it easy on the concert tour lately to put the finishing touches on it. I guess they've been too busy helping others put out albums (The Emo tions, Ramsey Lewis, Denice Williams, etc...) to get their own together. A Not too long ago, we pro mised a list of albums NOT to get...here’s a partial list. BUMPS AND BRUISES, by Joe Tex, on Epic Records. After you get through bump ing with the big fat woman there’s nothing else to do on this one. PHASE II, by Hamilton Bo hannon on Mercury Records. You would think Bohannon would change the beat of his music after 4 albums, but he hasn’t. HERE AT LAST . LIVE, by the Bee Gees, in Polydor Records. They sound much better in the recording studio than in person singing the songs that turned on soul music fans on their last couple of albums. MAGIC JOURNEY, by the Salsoul Orchestra on Salsoul Records. I had high hopes for this group after their “You’re Just The Right Size,” jam on their debut LP. Unfortunately, this album doesn’t provide much variety, and the journey isn’t so magi cal. Donna Summer has wasted no time in releasing another album on Casablanca Re cords. Her latest is “I Re member Yesterday." ~ HIT Vueeri City Motors j| The Best of Used Cars Late Model Used Cars 1976 Monte Carlo 1976 Ford Elite 1976 280Z Used Cars , 1973 Chev.
