I rti jarreau s laiesi live al bum on Warner Brothers re cords is a winner. It’s a double album recorded in Germany. It’s entitled "Look to the Rainbow...Al Jarreau live in Europe,” and it contains some of his most popular record ings. Jarreau makes some unbelievable sounds with his voice. 0 Apparently a lot of record buyers sympathize with John ny “Guitar" Watson’s moan ings. His latest “A Real Mo ther For Ya” LP has been certified gold. That’s two in a row for Johnny. 0 A lot of albums on the market now featuring former lead singers of groups now out on their own. Among them are Eddie Kendricks...whose first album on Arista Records is now available, and Teddy Pendergrass' first solo album on Philadelphia International Records. u The Dramatics have return ed on the music scene with a slightly different sound that’s a pleasant change. Their lat est LP on ABC Records is called “Shake It Well,” and it should do well for them. The title tune is beginning to get some air time on WGIV. 0 The Floaters are seeing their current album float up the record charts. Their music is a nice change of pace from the disco upbeat most groups are into now. Here’s hoping they can keep it up. 0 Two disco favorites...the Trammps and the Silver Con vention, are back with albums i that should keep party people dancing. “Disco Champs” is the Trammps latest on Atlantic Records., and “Golden Girls” is new from the Silver Conven tin on Midsong International. The Silver Convention will be at Carowinds this weekend. V A sleeper among the latest crop of albums could be War’s "Platinum Jazz” on Blue Note Records. It’s a double album that their fans should enjoy. 0 Talk about keeping busy... Marilyn McCoo and Billy Da vis Jr. have another album out now. It’s called “The Two Of Us” on ABC Records, and it includes "Look What You’ve Done To My Heart.” 0 Sergio Mendes has Stevie Jim Berry Wonder to thank tor tne suc cess of his “The Real Thing,” a tune that’s becoming popu lar around town. Wonder com posed the song for Mendes... who performs it well. 0 If you enjoyed Richard Pry or in the first show of his new TV series this week, then you no doubt will enjoy his latest two albums..."Are You Seri ous,” and “L.A. Jail.” on Warner Brothers Records. They will keep you laughing until his show returns next week. . 0 The “Iceman”...Jerry But ler, a good singer that always sounds better with a female companion, may have found his best mate yet in Thelma Houston. Thelma blends wth Jerry about as well as Brenda Lee Eager did years ago. Butler couldn't have picked a better partner. Thelma is probably Motown's most pro mising female singer. She has a solo album on the market now called “Any Way You Like It,” on Tamla. 0 "Open Up Your Love"...new from the Whispers on Soul Train Records...features some good relaxing music. It’s the group’s first album on that label.
