West Charlotte Drama Students To Present "Twelve Dancing Princesses" By Cynthia Bell Post Staff Writer Second year drama students at West Charlotte High School will perforin "Twelve Danc ing Princesses" during the month of November. The play is a musical based on the children's fairy tale TWELVE DANCING PRINCESSES. Performances will be given this month at four area ele mentary schools. Four stu dents, two females and two males, will be selected from the elementary schools that host the performances. East over will house performances November 9, and 10, Tryon Hills on November 18, Newell on November 17, and Cotswold on November 21. All perfor mances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be obtained through the respective schools. Molly Wharton, a senior at West Charlotte, is casting and directing these elementary students as an independent study project. "Molly has had experience with the Children's Theatre and the Student Thea tre Guild," said Betsy Varico la proudly. According to Ms. Wharton, many diligent young workers contributed a lot of time and effort to the success of this play. Costumes were made by the first period drama class and the set was constructed by the Set Design class. This musical consist of sev eral melodic songs for the cast of princes and princesses to dance to. The songs include: "The Strut" which was sung twice, "If He Would Dance With Me" that was sung three times, and "I Will Succeed." The talented cast and their respective parts are: Michael - John Love and Chess Jordan, Princess Linda - Sonja Lee and Karen McGhee, King · Eric Winkenworder and Mar tin Belt, Youngblood - Mark Browder, Hope Diamond - Dannette McLaurin, Sterling Silver Ferry - Langley Watts, Lady Steno - Vicky McGill, Princesses - Barbara Morgan, ι— Cindy Chinnes, Mary Johnson. Mary McGowan, Gigi Papas, and Nichole Gill, Princes - Shan Mackie, Anthony Rose, Dana Weldon, Dankie Pink ney, Allan Morgan, Fernard Curiton, and Chuck Milsap. The West Charlotte Drama Students will also perform "Summer and Smoke," a dra ma, in December.
