theme when the Mid-Atlantic
Region of Jack and Jill of
America, inc. holds its Twen
ty-Fourth Mid-Atlantic Teen
age Conference in Santee,
South Carolina at the Holiday
Inn. The week-end conference
will be held November 11-13.

Public hearings on the state
competency testing and an
nual testing programs are
scheduled in Charlotte Nov

competency testing will be
received on Wednesday, Nov
ember 16, 1-5 p.m., in Rooms
237-239 of the Education Cen
ter, 701 E. Second Street. Dr.
James Gallagher will serve as
hearing officer.
A hearing on the annual
testing program will be held
Thursday, November 17, 8:30
a.m. - noon in ine Board Koom
of the Education Center. Dr.
Frank Yeager will serve as
hearing officer.
A copy of recommendations
of the testing commissions
may be obtained from Room
514 of the Education Building
in Raleigh, N.C. 27611.
Persons wishing to testify
should submit a written re
quest to the hearing officer at
least five days before the
hearing. Written testimony
may be filed with the hearing
officer prior to or on the date
of the hearing.

quainted Disco" where parti
cipants will meet candidates
running for Teen offices of the
Mid-Atlantic Region.

Much emphasis is placed

children less fortunate than
the children of Jack and Jill
members.
The group also actively sup
ports any legislation on the

dren.
