Trade Fair ends today at the Charlotte Civic Center. Nearly 200 purchasing agents and vendors from across the na tion are participating in the two-day event. The Fair, a1 brainchild of the Metrolina Minority Purchasing Council, seeks to promote minority economic development throu gh contacts between area fir ms and minority companies that have products or services sell. + + + All-American Credric Max well, UNC-Charlotte’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder, and now a Boston Celtic, was placed in the starting line-up last week replacing the aging team captain John Havlicek. Maxwell has played in six of the Celtics first nine games. Within an average playing time of 7.7 minutes, Maxwell has averaged 6.5 points per game, grabed 18 rebounds and . blocked three shots. He was the Celtics' first-round draft pick for the current season. + + + The 1972 conviction of the “Charlotte 3,” T.J. Reddy, James Earl Grant and Char les Parker, for allegedly burning the Lazy B riding stables in 1968 was upheld by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Ap peals in Richmond, Virginia. Martin Sr. ask the full 9-member court to hear the case. + + + Reportedly, Western Elec tric Co. has expressed a will ingness to pay $97,500 to black employees to settle a lawsuit charging racial discrimina tion. The charges involved blacks working the firm’s Charlotte Installation Division and Service Center. Company officials also re portedly claim the settlement is not to be interpreted as being an admission of actual discriminatory practice. They have said such practices have not and do not exist. 1“---1 |t’i What’i Happening! || Three Musketeers Premiere Friday "The Three Musketeers,”, director Richard Lester’s gri nd, rollicking adventure film, based upon Alexander Dumas' classic tale, will have its world television premiere as a spe cial movie presentation on Friday, November 18, at 9 p.m. on WBTV, Channel 3. The film stars Oliver Reed, Raquel Welch, Richard Cham berlain, Michael York, Fay Dunaway and Charlton Hes ton. Also featured in the cast ' are Frank Finlay, Geraldine Chaplin, Christopher Lee, Si mon Ward, Jean Pierce Cassel and Spike Mulligan. Against the background of 17th-century France, the Three Musketeers-Athos (Re ed), Aramis (Chamberlain) - and Porthos (Finlay)-serve King Louis XIII (CasseJ) with the help of their new friend, the dashing D’Artagnan (Yo rk). Lovers of adventure and intrigue, and loyal to their king, the Three Musketeers must save the royal family for a plot being hatched by the wily cleric, Cardinal Richelieu (Heston), and his spy, Milady (Miss Dunaway). Queen Anne (Miss Chaplin) gives her diamond mecklace to the British Prime Minister, Buckingham (Ward), as a token of her love for him. The kind knows nothing of this, so the cardinal convinces him to ask his queen to wear the necklace at the royal ball.' It is up to the Three Muske teers and D’Artagnan to reco ver the necklace from Buck ingham and return it to the queen befor the embarrassing situation will be revealed at the ball.
