Prophet's Column "The Sovereignty Of God" The Sovereignty Of God In Election Pari III KvJ M l.illlp -— By J M Little Our last message dealt with the sovereignty of God in the lives to twin brothers; Jacob and Esau At this time we want to look more closely at God's Sovereignty in ELEC TION As I stated before 1 will not try to prove that God is sovereign. I'll simply declare it If you don't believe it then you are an unbeliever on the road to Hell. You are going to come to know the Sovereign God of the Bible or bust hell wide open. 1 don't mind telling you that. It's Christ or Hell! Where are you going my fri end'' Whiter bound my dear eternity bound soul? Let me say in this study that ELECTION is taught throughout the Bible. If you were not elected back in eter nity before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4) then the wheels of grace will never turn in your direction for mercy to be bestowed on you. In Acts 13:48 "And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: AND AS MANY AS WERE ORDAINED TO E TERNAL LIFE BELIEVED.'· TO.-4 Λ " « * · - ** many as believed." Brother, you had better go and look again at the Word of God; "as many as WERE ORDAINED to eternal life believed. There is election for you. Someone had to ordain them, God or dained them back before the foundation of the world. That is why they believed in time on the Lord Jesus Christ to the salvation of their souls. Man by nature is dead in trespasses and sins. How could a dead man believe on Christ? He can't until he is made alive by the Holy Spirit and then he can believe on Christ only when the Holy Spirit is pleased to give him faith to lay hold of Christ. That's salvation bro ther! To Hell with your easy believing ism This free will salvation, which is easy belie vingism, is going to damn the multitudes of you in Hell. The Lord Jesus Christ did not come and die and take a chance that you might believe Him. No! Salvation was plan ned before the foundation of the world. L-et me say lius, if you knew your totally depraved state as a sinner, you would readily accept election. You may deny election as these preachers and deacons are doing. But remember one thing election is taught in the Bible and it will still be true when you are baking in Hell. God never calls a man to misrepresent him. When you deny election you are calling God a liar. God's election of a sinner to salvation in Christ is not based on anything in the sinner. If God's election were based on anything in the sinner, then no one would ever be saved. Why? Many by nature hates God (Rom. 8:7) There is abso lutely nothing in man to make God love Him. Man is rotten to the heart ( Mark 7:21-23). God elected a certain num ber in His sovereignty. "That the purpoee of God according to election might stand, NOT OF WORKS, but of Him that calleth;" Rom 9:il. If you could see a race of mankind ruined by the Fall, hating God, and then see the beauty and love of God in electing a multitude to salva tion from fallen humanity who deserves nothing but eternal damnation, then you'd praise the Lord for His election. You'd stop all your arguing and fall prostrate at the feet of the sovereign God of the uni verse and praise His holy name I praise the Lord for election If it hadn't been for election I never would have been saved. You may be asking the J. M. Little ) question; am I elected^ If you are seriously concerned about being elected then that is a good sign you are. But as a lost sinner your object is Christ. You turn to Christ. Right now. to know Christ is the all important matter in your life. When God saves you then you know you were elected before the foundation of the world because only the elect get saved. Election should not discourage you. It didn't dis courage me when I was under Holy Spirit Conviction. ΙΤ-ead in the Word that only a few would be saved. If only one would be saved I was resolved to be that one and the Lord saved me. He can save you too. I'm going to tell you again . from the Scripture how you' can know you are elected. "Knowing, brethren beloved, YOUR ELECTION OF GOD. For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also IN POWER, AND IN THE HOLY GHOST (holy Spirit Convic tion), and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. (IThess. 1:4-5). When a soul is brought under Holy Spirit Conviction that is evidence he is elerfed But you had better be sure you are under Holy Spirit Convic tion if you think you are. I've seen some who professed to be under Holy Spirit Conviction but have turned away and are an enemy to me. God being sovereign, did not leave salvation up to man. You would not get saved if you could help it. You fight the Lord until your resistance is broken. If you tell me you never have fought the Lord I'll tell you that you have never been effectually called of the Lord. Every soul who has been moved upon the Spirit of the Lord at first resisted and you continued to resist until you were subdued. I know what I'm talking about. When the Lord was dealing with my heart for salvation I resisted on one hand by run ning five hundred miles from the truth. But I had to come right back. I keDt resisting until the Lord in His great mercy broke me at His feet and put such a hunger and thirst in my heart until I felt I had to have Christ or die. I'll say this; you will come to want Christ more than your life itself before you come to know Him. Night and day I hungered after Him and could not rest. I walked the floor weeping my heart out; Oh if I only knew Him, if I only knew Christ whom my soul longs after. I was not satisfied until the Holy Spirit revealed Him to my heart. Then I knew I was elected before the foundation of the world and I could never perish. I am safe in Christ. It matters not what you say about me, or want to do to me. You can't harm me unless the Lord permits it. I praise the Lord for His salvation and His great election. It is my prayer that the Led will have mercy on you, espe cially you and bring you to know Him as your Lord and· your Saviour. Turn to Christ while the door of mercy is till open. May the Lord turn you unto Himself. And then you'U never cease to praise Him for elect ing you to salvation in Christ. Anderson Gets Blue-Gray Invitation ORANGEBURG.
