One Phone Call Gets Entire Medical Services Beginning this month, your telephone call for ambulance service will put you in touch with the entire emergency medical services (EMS) sys tem in Mecklenburg County, including both franchised pro viders and volunteer units. When you dail 376-5671, you will reach the Central Medical Emergency Dispatch (A-'MED). CMED will, in turn, dispatch the appropriate vehi cle. In emergency situations the volunteer "first respond er" closest to you will be dispatched. This expanded service has been made possible by the County’s purchase of new communications equipment for volunteer units. It also permits control and coordination of services from one dispatch location. County Government has the legal responsibility for provid ing ambulance service throughout the County. The oeremony was performed by Rev. J. W. Glenn. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Fred Smith and the groom is the son of Mr*. Mancv Coleman. His father is deceased.
