Ear! G. Graves ...Black Enterprise Founder Earl Graves ^ Elected ΓΓΓ Director NEW YORK, N.Y. Decem ber 19, - Election of Earl G. Graves, publisher of Black Enterprise Magazine, to the board of directors of Interna tional Telephone and Tele- A graph Corporation, was an- I nounced today by Harold S. Si Geneen, chairman and chief ^jecutive. In addition to publishing, Mr. Graves is president of radio station KNOK AM and FM in Dallas, Texas, and also heads his own marketing re search company. He founded Black Enterprise Magazine, a national monthly magazine j specializing on issues affect ing economic conditions and business development for | blacks, in 1970. Previously he had been president of his own management consultant firm. ' Prior to launching his own businesses, he was adminis trative assistant to the late j Senator Robert F. Kennedy ' where his primary efforts were in setting up pilot urban development programs throughout New York Statp Named one of the ten most outstanding minority busi nessmen in the country by the President in 1972, Mr. Graves has been similarly recognized by Ebony Magazine as one of the 100 most influential black leaders in America, and by Time Magazine as one of 200 future leaders of the country. He was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, scout ing's highest recognition for volunteer work, and of hono rary doctor of law degrees from several colleges and uni versities, including Ms alma,' ' mater Morgan State-' Collegë ' ' where he received a B.A. degree in Economics in 1958. Mr. Graves serves on the boards of Tuskegee Institute; the Corporate Fund for the Performing Arts at Kennedy Center; the Advertising Coun cil; the Magazine Publishers Association; and numerous o thers. He is a member of the advisory council of the Uni versity of Notre Dame Center for Civil Rights, and a trustee of the American Museum of Natural History and Planeta- , rium Authority, and is Com missioner of Scouting for the Greater New York Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Graves served as a captain in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. He is married to the former Barbara Kydd and has three sons: Earl, John Clifford and Michael.
