Young, Modera tor of Catawba United Presby terian Church, announced Tuesday that several of their young members have been inducted into the Society of ^ Distinguished American High •j$ School Students The Students from this area who are inducted were Evelyn Donaldson and Timothy Gibbs. The Society, which is one of the nation's foremost high, school honoraries, inducted the students because of their excellence and leadership in church and civic achieve ment, according to Mrs A.S. Emehel Mrs. Emehel says the Na tional Awards Program is sponsored by 21 of America's finest colleges. "Thousands of dollars in scholarship funds from these colleges are made available to *Society mem bers." Mrs. Emehel, who received a National Appreciation A ward for her efforts on behalf of the students stated, "I am extremely proud of these ex ceptional students and the honor that they have received. It's surely one that they will cherish the rest of their lives." One of the Society's guiding principles is to "promote both academic and civic achieve ment on the high school level by recognizing students in its membership registry. The So ciety of Distinguished Ameri can High School Students, which is published annually •if·.-' ·!·*.·. - r,,*» - ■> . fc.m; Needy &tudenta ν Will Pay More For Breakfast WASHINGTON. - Assistant Secretary of Agriculture Carol Tucker Foreman announced this week that especially nee dy schools may receive in creased payments for break fasts they serve under the school breakfast program from Nov. 10 through Dec. 31, 1977. "We are taking this action to implement a provision of new child nutrition legislation sig ned last month and to enable needy schools to offer nutri tious and satisfying break fasts to their students," Ms. Foreman said.
