Mitchell Vigil Of Unity Planned For Sunday, July 9 A Vigil of Unity will be held ;in Charlotte (scheduled now ■for Sunay, July 9) at the 'Federal Court House, 401 W. -Trade Street, beginning at 3 •p.m. j The nazis are marching in : Illinois threatening the Jewish • community in Skokie and the f:black community in Marqu ette Park. Whenever the nazis march, a Vigil of Unity will be held in Charlotte. According to a statement from the Vigil of Unity in ejfesscii of the Holocaust, when •jiillions died in concentration •jjamps and in fighting the Tiazis in World War II. It must [sever happen again! "We stand together, opposed to the hatred and : terror the nazis represent. We ntand united for freedom and equality," the statement con cluded. The groups that compose the Vigil of Unity are the Charlotte Area Clergy Associ ation; National Conference of Christians and Jews; Char lotte Federation of Jewish Charities; Charlotte Equal Rights Council; and People United for Justice. Registration for slimnastics is open now for classes begin ning July 10. Fees for the six week course are $12 for mem bersaad $18 for non-members. It will be taught on Monday ^.and Wednesday nights at 7 ρ m The current summer camp session ends on July 14. Registration is open for re maining sessions on July 17-28, July 31-August 11 and August 14-25. Sessions are held Monday through Friday, from 9 a m to 4 p.m. Swim ming lessons are included for beginners, along with lunch, sports and games, arts and crafts and tripe. • <WWMI V.U11 iUUVIICIl UI1U Paul Cedric Fields were mar ried June 24 at Metropolitan United Presbyterian Church The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Mitchell of 6521 Hidden Forest Drive. She is a graduate of North Carolina Central University and is a teacher at Pinkston Elementary School in Hender son, N.C. The bridegroom is the sou of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H Fields Jr. of Pittsburgh. Pa. He is a graduate of North Carolina Central University and is employed at IBM in Research Triangle Park. N.C. The bride was given in marriage by her father She wore a formal white gown of chiffon. The bodice featured a Queen Ann neckline and a raised waistline covered entirely with Alencon lace accented with seed pearls. The bishop sleeves were deep ly cuffed and bordered with Alencon lace. The full chiffon skirt flowed into a catherdral length train. The veil was three tiers of illusion on a half camelot crown, edged with scallops of Alencon lace which complemented the wedding gown. The bride carried a bouquet of calla lillies and orchids. The b^utiful, sacred cere mony was performed by Rev. Reginald ^taw^tins, acting, minister of the Metropolitan United Presbyterian Church, and Rev. Chester Johnston. wiiiiam ts Lindsay was the org.inist and Mrs. Gertrude A Simmons was the soloist Mrs. Rhonda Zoatney of Pitts burgh. Pa was matron of Honor and Miss Terri Mitchell, sister of the bride, was maid of honor They wore gowns of mint green quiana interlocking knit The A-line gowns were designed with a gathered scoop neckline and a capelet attached that flowed to the waist. The bridesmaids. Misses Donna Mitchell, Aretha Mara ble, Flonndra McClure, Linda Manago and Mary Boyd, wore gowns of the same design as the matron and maid of honor in a soft color of spring yellow. The head dress was a soft spray of baby breath and tiny orange and gold mums They carried bouquets of the same w ith yellow and green stream ers. Little Miss Shelly Douglas and Little Miss TyDonya Ross were flower girls They wore dresses of spring yellow dacron, designed with an empire waist-line puffed sleeves and tiered skirt. Master Nelson Mitchell Jr. was the ring bearer wearing a white suit with satin trimmed lapels and short pants. The best man was Charles Burton and the groomsman for the occasion were Norman Mitchell, Battisse Qrier, Till man Ruff.- Benny Jarod ancT_ Tate Taylor. The mother of the Bride wore a gown of sea foam blue nylon The V'-neckline was designed with soft folds from the shoulder and gathered at the waist with a cumberbun The sleeves were tapered and the skirt soft and flowing The bridegrooms aunt wore a r spring yellow chiffon gown with a scooped neckline with soft flowing sleeves and skirt The wedding reception was held at Johnson C.
