Oh yes, I do 6 to 10 miles of running every morning. I can't start the day without it. It gives me tre mendous energy. When I've finished, I feel I’ve paid the price of living and I can go ^on." Cicely Tyson, no doubt about it, is an intense, even driven lady. She's far from humorless, though. She has a dazzling grin she rarely allows to be worn by the suffering, triumphant characters she plays. “I was the bane of my mother’s whole existence” the smile is rueful now-"I’m telling you truly, I drove her crazy with my driving schedu les." Her parents came from Nevis, one of the British West Indies islands, and they were strict disciplinarians. Her mother worked as a domestic and her-father worked as a the expeditions of fugitive slaves that Tubman led. Cicely’s intensity demands total attention. Cicely can’t just say something, she must communicate it. “Sometimes I feel like Tubman myself-the fact that I get to play the parts I do.
