BILLY DAVIS JR. SMILING HAPPILY
» With hi» lovely wife Marilyn McCoo
Marilyn McCoo, Billy Davis
Have "Professional Touch"
by Sberleen McKoy
Post Staff Writer
As soon as one hears the
opening strains of "Shine On
Silver Moon," it is quite
obvious that the artists perfor
ming this hit single are true
professionals. And when you
discover that the dynamic duo
of Marilyn McCoo and Billy
Davis, Jr. are responsible for
the sound, you easily under
stand the undeniable profess
ional touch.
Entitled "Marilyn * Billy,"
"Shine On Silver Moon" is the
first single release from Mari
lyn and Billy's debut Colum
bia album. "Marilyn k Billy"
is simply Marilyn and Billy at
their best
"Ourlong range objective,"
said attractive Marilyn," is to
develop and establish our
selves as a top-notch husband
and wife team. Then we intend
to expiorc solo cams on
records and film. We're open
to a lot of different avenues
but the most important thing
is that we'll always be togeth
it's perfectly understand
able why Billy and Marilyn
would always want to be to
gether especially after listen
ing to the refined sound that
only they could produce.
"Marilyn k Billy" is more
than a statement of together
ness; it's a solid entry in a
career already distinguished
by RIAA gold records,
Grammy Awards and interna
tional recognition from as far
away as Tokyo (where they
«ere honored with the grand
prize in Tokyo's prestigious
Annual Music Festival in
1977).
A major reason for Marilyn
and Billy's success since leav
ing their heralded group. The
Fifth Dimension, in 1965 is the
happiness they project.
"People hope we have an
answer to all the confusion
between men and women to
day," Marilyn proudly beams.
"I'm very flattered that they
look to our marriage, hoping
to come across the element
that makes it work."
"And it's all so simple,"
contributes Billy. "It's just
one simple element: respect!
We respect each other tremen
dously. From the beginning I
could see that Marilyn was
serious and I admired her
ability in music. Gradually the
attraction just grew and
grew."
The growth culminated in
"Billy & Marilyn." Observing
their lifestyle and listening to
their philosophy, it really is
not surprising that Marilyn
and Billy have become two of
the most notable success story
in the world's entertainment
industry. Worldwide acclaim
has encompassed them almost
as a matter of course by
performing the music they
believe in. Now, with the
release of "Marilyn & Billy,"
their recognition only has
room to grow and grow.
