On vacation from her film ing schedule for the television series “Good Times’’ (Wed nesday, 8:30 p.m. Ch.3) in Los Angeles, Ms. DuBois came to Charlotte for the Blood-Give In as one of her four charity projects a year. Ja’Net said her role at the blood drive was to distract the volunteers from their dis comfort. What will Ja’Net remember most about Charlotte? n leiepnone conversauon she has with a 63-year-old woman, stands out in her memory, Ja'Net recalled. During their discussion the woman requested a recording of a song Ja’Net wrote and sings called “Movin on Up," the theme from the series “The Jeffersons.” "Someone reached out to me and I reached back." Ja’Net briefly reminisced. As Willona, the fun-loving neighbor of the Evans family on "Good Times,” Ja'Net said she considers herself fortu nate to have worked on the series for five years, earning much money and having con tract security. Yet, she laments, "The job is nice, but I can’t grow. If you don’t grow, go! Not growing is the way you die.” Although Ja’Net admitted she likes working on the series, she observed that her role does not offer her the opportunity she deserves to further develop her talents. Ja’Net will continue taping “Good Times” until March, 1979, but then what does her hold? Id the series be contin ued she will have a contract for another year. If the show is cancelled because of its declining ratings, Ja'Net will fulfill some of her other am bitions.
