UNCC Plans Three-Day Seminar A three-day seminar on how to administer wage and salary programs and perform job evaluations have been scheduled by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Office of Continuing Educa tion Feb. 26-28. Scheduled from 9 a m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, the seminar will be held at the Sheraton Center at 555 S. McDowell St., Charlotte. The seminar will deal with the basics of wage and salary administration, behavioral science and economic con cepts, legal constraints on wage and salary administra tion, job description and evaluation, determining wage and salary levels, pay for performance, and monitoring, analyzing and budgeting. Brannon, ff' junior education major at Livingstone College, was crowned Miss UNCF at a coronation ball last Saturday at Livingstone College. Miss Brannon will be one of the representatives from Livingstone to attend the 31st Annual United Negro College Fund Conference which will be held in Birmingham, Alabama February 8-11. Fashion Show ’ Planned For February 24 A Fashion Show, sponsored by the Charlotte Medical, Pharmaceutical and Dental Society, will be presented on Saturday, February 24 at Ivey's Uptown at 10 a.m. Proceeds from the fashion show will constitute a scholar ship to be given to a particular student interested in going into the medical field. The scholarship, usually $1,000, will be given to a high School or college graduate who really needs it. A bruncheon will also be included along with the fash ion extravaganza. If they did, there would be no need to use messy chocolate products to flavor the milk. R.J.F. Foods of Winston Salem has recently introduced a solution to the problem of untidiness. It’s a chocolate flavored syrup called Milk Mate. The syrup is squeezed di rectly into hot or cold milk or onto desserts, and the contain er remains neat and dripless. The product requires no re frigeration, comes in a plastic squeeze botue witn a capped nozzle and is packaged in 20 oz. an 36 oz. sizes. “Our tests showed that in comparison with other milk additives Milk Mate offered consumers several important benefits: better mixing, bet ter chocolate riavor and color, an easier to use package and greater value for their monev.” said Robert Kroll, president of R.J.F. The new milk additive was originally developed by the Grenadier Chocolate Com pany of Toronto, and produced in Canada in 1976. Early this year, R.J.F. RALEIGH.—In addition to being cold, February may also be a costly and worrisome month for many North Caro linians, according to the Divi sion of Motor Vehicles of the state Department of Trans portation. Prospects of standing in ong lines or receiving traffic stations for operating vehi cles not properly registered nay face some citizens, said Elbert L. Peters, Jr. .com missioner of Motor Vehicles. “During the first two weeks of the registration renewal period this year, about 200,000 ewer license plates and stick •rs had been sold compared to 978. ’’ Peters said, noting that ‘despite excellent coverage >y the news media on the idvantages of purchasing ear ly, approximately 36 percent fewer tags and stickers have been sold this year in this initial 14-day period.’’ Sales began January 2. Leaf Program Really Picks Up ■ The annual vacuum leai collection program is now over for 1978-79. The season Charlotte residents raked 10,200 tons of leaves to the curb along 1,200 miles of City streets. City crews operation 30 trucks removed 3,000 loads of leaves. Few of the leaves went to the landfill. "But there are indications that sales have picked up during the past two weeks," he said. “We encourage"vehi cle owners to purchase their tap or stickers now while the lines are usually short." Peters said owners who have not recived a 1979 re newal card should notify the motor vehicles division im -mediately by telephone at 919 733-6506 between 8:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. A renewal card will be issued and mailed to the vehicle owner. Stickers or tap may be purchased at branch offices or through the mail from the Division of Motor Vehicles, 1100 New Bern Avenue, Ra leigh, N.C. 27697. Peters said “the agency cannot guarantee delivery of tap or stickers ordered through the mail after February I.” "If owners receive their re newal card after February 1, they should make their pur chases at a nearby branch agency," said Peters, noting that there are more than 100 locations across the state. To save time, Peters suggest ed owners should line through any incorrect information and print in corrected material prior to going to the branch agency.
