recently elected to the ex
ecutive council of the Na
tional Pre-Alumni Council
ol the United Negro College
Fund. She will serve in the
capacity of secretary to the
student-oriented organiza

Betty, the daughter of
Mrs. Gladys Brown of 4423
Ridgely Dr., is a sophomore
at Bennett College,
Greensboro. She is pursuing
studies in business com
munications in the women’s
college interdisciplinary
Studies Program.
The PNAC is composed
of students attending the
41-member United Negro
College Fund institutions.
The campus-based councils’
seek to generate student sup
port for the annual UNCF
fundraisine campaign.

One hundred people came
to watch the presentation of
the 1979 Calendar Babies
and the Miss Rhoer Pageant
at the 28th Annual
Rhomania held Feb. 25 at
the Greenville Center.
The event was sponsored
by the Beta Omicron Sigma
Chapter of the Sigma Gam
ma Rho Sorority Inc. Five
babies were selected from
the 15 contestants to be pic
tured on the cover of the
sorority’s 1980 calendar.
Stacey Camille Alex
ander. the daughter of Dr.
and Mrs. J. E. Alexander
was crowned queen of the
Rhomania.
I ne tour runners-up were
as follows: Shalette Denise
Robinson II, parents: Mr.
and Mrs. Donald Robinson;
Jerredith Shearin, parents:
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Shearin;
Deron Montrice Guilford,
parents: Mr. an3 Mrs.
Clarence Guilford; and
Skyla Caldwell, parents: Mr.
and Mrs. Jerald Caldwell.
The Caldwells also won a
prize for bringing the largest
number of guests.
Miss Angela Spalding, a
sophomore at West
Charlotte High School was
crowned “Miss Rhoer”. She
is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Spalding.

musical entertainment.
