Hospital want to help by
cooperating with Catholic

Mrs. Barbara Fields, an RN
who has studied and special
ins in counseling couples
about Infertility, began seeing
clients last week in her office
located on the first floor of the
hospital. “Here is a chance,”
she said, “for Mercy Hospital
to offer something in the way
of new life.”

In counseling couples, Mrs.
Fields deals with the total
person-emotional, psycholo
gical, as well as physical,
always recognizing that infer
tility is “a couples’ problem,
not an individual’s.” Careless
remarks made to such couples
by friends and family often
compound the anxiety. “The
fertile population needs to be
made aware that the infertile
population does exist,” she
says.
