Band clinics will be offered at the park with special entertainment by the Commodores, the U.S. Navy's Jazz ensemble. Six Flags is located on 1-20 west, ten minutes from down town Atlanta. The Coulwood band will depart from the school at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 26. A total of 90 people including 79 students, 10 chaperones and the director will be going on the trip. They will travel on two buses furnished by the Carolina Transit Bus Com pany. The group will be perform ing music of grade IV difficul ty taken from the North Caro lina Band Contest-Festival list. The selections are Folk lore For Band by Jim Audy Caudill and Symphonic Over ture by Charles Carter. Miss Black Receives AKM National Scholarship Award Special to the Post Miss Constance Travis Black, a native of Charlotte, N.C. and a senior English major at Saint Augustine's College was the recipient of the Third Place Award in the Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society Graduate Scho larship competition. She is a member of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges ", and copy editor of the year book. The winners of the scho larship award were announc ed and presented plaques at the Annual Banquet Session at the Grand Hotel in New Orleans. (Miss Black will receive $700 to be used for graduate studies).
