01 ...UNCC Junior 1 Davis Selected Active Chapter 9 Man Of The Year l Michael Davis, a UNC-Char- ^ lotte student, was recently * selected as the “Active Chap ter Man of the Year” for the Mid-Eastern Province compe tition between North Carolina and West Virginia chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Davis previously served as Junior Vice Province Pole march, the highest under graduate regional office for the Mid-Eastern Province. The active chapters of the fraternity are currently en gaged in a statewide tutelar program to aid minority stu dents in coping with standar dised tests. “I felt this was a worthwhile project in lieu of the recently revealed scores of the compe tency tests in this state,” Davis stated. “Therefore, the mission of this project is to help develop academic weak nesses into strengths.” umvia was recenuy featured on WRET, Channel 36, where he was interviewed by Art Norman on the “Open Up Program.”' He spoke on the subject of “Positive Frater nity-Community Relation ships,” an overview of the programs Kappa Alpha Psi active chapters has executed | in Charlotte and regional £ communities. A Junior at UNCC, Davis served as associate attorney general of the student govern ment this year, marking his third year in this position. He haaaimamked as a part-time. .j Instructor in the Older Adults. Program at Central Piedmont Community College, where be presently teaches Afro-Amer ican studies to older adults. Davis was the coordinator for the student session of the North Carolina Conference on Black Studies held in Greens boro at A ft T State University. The session was entitled - “Developing Dual Conscious ness in Education." Commenting on the session, Davis related, "It’s important for me to be able to obtain an education that gives me skills to apply in other activities as well as in the community."
