Church News Briefs Greater Bethel’s “Gtywide Evangelical Crusade” Begins Sunday by Sberieen McKoy Post Staff Writer Greater Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, under the leadership of their pwtor, Rev. Prank M. Reid in. will be holding their City wide Evangelical Crusade at 201 Grandin Road, hegiimtwg Sunday, July IS thru Wednes day, July IS at 7:90 nightly. The Evangelist will be Rev. Roger Hall Reed of Mount Moriah A.M.E. Church in Annapolis, Maryland. He is one of the nation’s greatest preachers and pulpiteers. He will be accompanied by Ms wife, Mrs. Shirley J. Rev. and Mrs. Read are joined in their ministry by their daughter Stephanie. At age 0 God gave Stephanie a talent for playing musical instruments and she played the piano by ear. BAPTIST CONGRESS The 57th Annual Session of the Mecklenburg Baptist Con gress of Christian Education (Sunday School and the Bap tist Training Union) will be held at Friendship Baptist Church on Thursday and Fri day evenings. July 12 and IS at 7 p.m. nightly. The theme of the State Sunday School is: "Finishing The Task of Christian Educa tion." On Tuesday evening, the annual sermon will be deliver ed by Rev. Wilson Mitchell, pastor of Chappell Memorial Baptist Church. Music will be rendered by the Chappell Memorial Choir. A Welcom ing Program by Friewkhip Baptist Church and a Business Session will be held prior to the sermon. On Friday evening, “God’s Chosen People," a skit author ed by Rev. Preston Pender grass, pastor of Antioch Bap tist Church, will be presented at 7 p.m. The skit will be followed by a eermonette given by Rev. A1B. Sutton Jr. of Ebeaeter Baptist Church. At 7:55 p.m., a James F. Wertz Orstorlcal Contest will precede an address that will be given by James Bellamy, president of the Baptist Train ing Union. The closing sermon will be delivered by Rev. C. V. Owens, pastor of First Mount Zion Baptist Church. The First Mount Zion Choir will provide the musical selec tions.
