.. Insurance salesman Battle Attends International Sales Seminar by Susan Ellsworth Post Staff Writer Eddie B. Battle, a resident of Charlotte and a Prudential Ins urance agent was among some 6,000 members of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) gathering here for this exclusive life insurance sales organization's annual conference. Attendance at this year's meeting is the larg est in MDRT history, with delegates representing 44 countries around the world, the the MDRT meeting is the com prehensive sales forum in the life insurance industrv During the five-day meet ing, more than 100 profession al speakers were discussing subjects of vital concern to both the public and to those in the life insurance field. The program features experts in such areas as estate planning, taxes, small business opera tions and inflation. The organization claims the top one to two percent of all insurance agents in the world. To qualify an agent must sell 1.5 million in coverage each to a minimum of 12 clients. Since Battle began selling life insurance eleven years ago, he has met MDRTs requirements for ten years. Prudential recruited him after he was recommended by a friend. Battle was the former owner of two clothing stores - one on Beatties Ford Road and another on Statesville Avenue. He was originally from Forest, Mississippi, but has lived in Charlotte for 20 years He is married, has three children, who are also mar ried and resides at Botany Street in Charlotte. Washington Height Garden Club Meeting Mrs. Arelia Gabriel at 2212 Tate Street was hostess to the Washington Height Garden Club meeting last Tuesday evening. Mrs. Ethel Choate was selected to be the club's dele gate to the Federation at Garden Clubs Convention which will be held in Durham, August 5-7 at the Downtowner Inn. Mrs. Lois Scott (presi dent), Mrs. Gertrude Williams and Mrs. Nancy English will accompany her to the Conven tion. The club disci—ed having a flower show in the Fall and a club anniversary in the near future. Members were also urged to bring door prizes to carry to the Convention and to purchase an ad for the Con vention’s souvenir book. Since August is a vacation I month for the club, they will not have a meeting. However, the September meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Jessie Lee Hamlin of 5301 Elderbank Drive. Members present at the meeting were: Mrs Lots Scott, Mrs. Ethel Choate. Mrs. Willete Patterson, Mrs. Gertrude Williams, Mrs. Lillie Mae Carter, Mrs Viola Alli son, Mrs. Jannie Pride, Mrs Arelia Gabriel, Mrs Mildred McCain, Mrs. Cora Gaither and Mrs. Pearl Phillip.
