VIBRANT MELBA MOORE
.... Tony Award performer
“Vibrant, Beautiful And
Talented,” Describes Moore
Dy i eresa minis
Post Staff Writer
Vibrant, beautiful and
talented. Those are just a few
words that describe the in
credible Melba Moore.
Before we go any further you
must have heard Moore’s
last hit single “You Stepped
Into My Life.” It was played
over and over by Charlotte’s
pop radio stations, but who's
complaining!
That record alone racked
over 750,000 in sales. And
that’s not the only success
Moore has encountered. She
won a Tony Award for her
performance in"Purlie,’’a
high spirited musical, and
she’s planning to come back
as Lula Belle in an upcoming
motion picture version.
Moore has also been in
Broadway’s “Timbuktu,”
as well as “The Big Blue
Marble,” a popular
children's special.
She sings, she acts and
now Moore is co-writing
lyrics and melodies. For her
latest Epic Records album,
“Burn,' Moore wrote the
words, but they were words
with a point. Take for in
stance the lyrics to “Hot ’N
Tasty,” “Feelin’just right,”
‘‘Steppin’ out tonight,”
“Gonna git some action,”
“Get out and get off
tonight,” “I like it hot 'n tas
ty, I m gonna set
somebody on fire.” Moore
thinks people will miss the
lyrics’ point if they try to
analyze them too carefully.
“ I just want people to ha ve
fun with me,” she states
firmly. ‘That 9 why 1 wrote
and sang the kinds of songs I
did. I don’t want to be in
such a serious mood all the
time, and I don't want peo
ple to take me so seriously. If
I decide to give people a little
sex appeal, my fan9
shouldn't freak out.”
While few can deny that
Moore, indeed, has sex ap
peal, she is also gifted with
the talent and intelligence it
takes to achieve success.
Whether it be in a serious
fashion or not, Moore is
dynamite, and a success. But
look out. Melba Moore pro
bably has more in store for
you.

2nd on "Top 6’ The Day,"
WBTV's hour-long week

Lynne has a ten-year
smoking habit that's been
difficult to break. However,
she feels help is near, since
thousands of Americans
have found release from
cigarette' addiction through
hypnosis. In exploring the
subject, Lynne has found
that hypnosis is not some
kind of magic, and instead
is a scientific tool employed
by doctors, dentists and
hypnotechnicians. In Part
I, Lynne looks into the
benefits of hypnosis when
used in a clinical manner.
In Part 2, Lynne finds
out what to do about the
problem of using smoking
as a crutch, and having to
replace that crutch with
another one, when she
delves into self-hypnosis as
taught by a professional
hypnotechnician. She learns
why positive reinforcement
is necessary in breaking the
habit, and that hypnosis car
only be used under the
strictest supervision.
