Voices Of Sinai Will Present Their Annual Concert Here Sunday by 1 eresa Burns Post Staff Writer A concert of anthems, hymns, spirituals and the latest in gospel music will be presented by the Voices of Sinai at the Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 1243 West Boulevard, Sunday, Novem ber 18, at 4 p.m. This concert will be the 10th annual concert given by the choir. Mrs. N. E. Kerry is minister of music and Michael D. Cooper will accompany the choir on the organ. Special guest for the event will be soloist, Mrs. Georgia B. Guest of Shelby, N. C. She is a nationally known recording artist and a solo ist for the General Baptist State $bnvention of N. C. This per former's beautiful voice is in con stant demand across America. According to Rev. Norman E. Kerry, pastor of Mount Sinai, “This without a doubt will be one of our best concerts ever.” The public is cordially invited to come out and share with Mount Sinai in an evening of delightful music. NEW ZION BAPTIST “Christ the Challenge to a Des perate World" will be the theme of New Zion Baptist Church Mission ary Circle’s 31st Anniversary cele bration Sunday, November 18, at 2:30 p.m. This distinguished guest speaker will be Mrs. Georgia M. Turner, President of the Woman’s Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Convention of North Carolina. Tur ner is also active in community organizations. She is a member of Robeson County Library Board of Trustees, Shaw Divinity School Board of Trustees, NEA, NCEA and ACT, Order of Eastern Star and attends First Baptist Church. Turner graduated from Shaw University and studied at Virginia State College and Pembroke State University. She is married to Dr. E. B. Turner and they have two daughters. New Zion Baptist Church is located at 117 Judson Avenue. The public is warmly invited to attend the anniversary celebration. CATAWBA PRESBYTERY ..Indeed the unity of Presbyterians exists as-' 33 of their churches from to local counties congregated to help raise money for both local and regional special missions. According to Rev. Eugene Ran dall the 33 churches unification is called The Catawba Presbvterv. They will hold a celebration, at 5 p.m. Sunday, November 18 at C. N. Jenkins United Presbyterian Church on Statesville Avenue. The celebration, sponsored by the Ma jor Missions Committee, will help raise money for day care centers, tutoring programs and projects for the elderly and teenagers. The guest speaker will be Ms. Motlalepula Chabaku, a Mission Interpreter with the Synod of the Piedmont, United Presbyterian Church, USA. There is no admiss ion and the public is invited MOUNT CARMEL Vice President of Greyhound Corporation, Joe Black will speak at Mount Carmel Baptist Church's Annual Men’s Day Observance, 11 a.m. Sunday, November 18. CORINTHIAN MISSIONARY Take note. The Annual Candle Tea of the Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church will have the Tea at the Church at 9147 Trinity Rd. November 18 from 4 until 6 p.m. The tea was originally set to be held at the Greenville Center. The speaker will be Joseph O. Brono, a businessman from Gastonia. Plans have also been set for visiting choirs to perform. Following the services the mem bers of Corinthian Missionary Bap atist Church will present their 12 Rev. L.D. SHILOH INSTITUTIONAL This is the 10th Anniversary for the J. A Gospel Choir of the Shiloh Institutional Baptist Church. They will observe their anniversary Sun day, November 18 at 4 p.m. with special guest Raymond L. Couthen and the Voices of Faith Ensemble from Winston-Salem. About 28 dedicated young people serving the Lord make up the ensemble. They have traveled to different conventions around the world and have been enjoyed by many. Their release on Rev, Issac Douglas album proved to be a big success and their 45 has been a favorite on Randy’s Record Mart and many other placets. ANTIOCH BAPTIST Antioch Baptist Church’s Nurses Club will have a special worship program Sunday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. The program's purpose is to raise scholarship money for mem bers entering nursing or medical school. Rev. Thomas Clifton, a minister of the church, will deliver the sermon at this special fund raising event. Also Sunday, November 18 at 3 p.m. Rev. Preston Pendergrass and ushers of Antioch Baptist Church will worship with St. Mark Baptist Church located on Grandin Road. Rev. Pendergrass will deliver the sermon entitled “Protected for the Job" at this annual usher program. The public is extended an invita tion to both events.
